Recognition Award = $22k+ or $5,179 off of OOS tuition per year
where are you seeing this? in the portal? or just received an email?
Received email prompting me to check portal and it was there
A bit late to this but my dtr got into U of SC last night…sooooooooooo excited!
where did she commit and is she changing course?
She committed (not whole heartedly) to Coastal and is VERY excited to have committed to U of SC last night…we are moving to CHS. Where is your son going?
It’s getting real!! My S24 found a roommate through the matching system last week and they picked their room today! Two other guys picked the adjoining room, and now all 4 are connecting. My S24 meets with his advisor tomorrow to register for classes. Very exciting! I’m really looking forward to heading up for orientation and, hopefully, meeting some other families.
Congrats! I’m envious! We are in the hold, waiting her my dtr to be able to register etc…paid the deposit and anxiously waiting to do everything else…I called and heard the June 17-18 orientation is full…not complaining bc she’s so happy she got in last week ![]()
Congrats to all the students attending U of SC… I am looking for next year- does anyone have insight on to majors that are most competitive ( i.e harder to get accepted to?)? Also, if test optional is it likely to get waitlisted ( 4.16 GPA- 5 AP, leadership, work, activities) top 13% of large OOS high school ( Oregon)
It’s gonna be for the most part the same as other schools. So engineering, business, and medicine.
Although USC probably has a list of more competitive majors online
Test optional with that GPA (if weighted) is likely to get wait listed.
We know 8 students from son’s school with no more than a 3.7 weighted that got in this year. Two had a 3.3 no hooks.
Do you know if they were TO? Thanks.
Yes, both were.
in state or out of state?
Likely need test scores if chasing merit
Just got back from orientation, and we are in Darla Moore for Marketing, was told they had 16,000 applicants and took 1600
The 4.0 is unweighted I am just not sure how to convert to the South Carolina GPA we are in Oregon
Is that how many they accepted or how big the class is? How was orientation? S25 and S26 are both very interested in Darla Moore. Thanks!
I think in SC honors classes are worth 5 and AP courses are worth 6. That’s why their GPAs are insanely high in their stats for scholarships.
