University of South Carolina Class of 2028 Official Thread

So if my daughter had an unweighted 4.0 and then two AP CLASSES she would have over a 5.0?

Not necessarily. You would look at each class and add it up. 4 pts for every non-honors/AP class, 5 for every honors course, and 6 for each AP. I am guessing your child has at least a few non-honors/AP courses in their history?

How competitive is the psychology program from OOS?

Our HS Transcripts in SC show both the weighted GPA on the 6point scale and unweighted based on a 4.0 GPA.

I was told this week from an admissions officer that they use a 5.0 scale. According to her no classes are weighted as 6.

Wierd, because the honors college Academic Profile GPAs go up to like 5.4/5.5. So how could they be using a 5.0 scale? (Scroll to near the bottom of this page:

I know. I’m not sure the correct answer so I am erring on the side of caution.

Yes, but I am explaining why the U of SC page shows such high GPA averages. If you’re from out of state, it seems crazy, becasue most other states do 5 pts for AP, and 4.5 for honors, so our gpas are lower. It helped me understand my daughter’s gpa in relation to what I was seeing for merit or acceptance.
