University of South Carolina Early Action for Fall 2024

I would suggest, if possible, wait until March after scholarship info is released. My D24 applied to Mercer, UGA, GT, CLEMSON, and South Carolina because of their Honors Program. She was accepted to all 5 and has been accepted to UGA Honors program. Still waiting on the other 4 Honors decision. She really loved all 5 campuses. However, being from GA it going to be hard to turn down UGA or GT because she will be able to attend either with no out pocket expenses. We are working hard to decide so she can let the other schools know because there plenty of exceptional students who will benefit. Thats the case for many throughout the nation. We came into the process with a idea that a decision wouldn’t be made until late March. I did the same with my sons both of whom were deferred by there top 3 when they applied for college 2020 and 2022. They both eventually were accepted at their 1st choice late March during RD with multiple scholarship offers. Good luck to all. Hopefully this helps, believe me I have been there twice. Just keep the faith.

Kcmen, our son is a freshman at GT and loves it! He had the same options as your child. Good luck. Just wanted to say go Yellowjackets!

So weird that she didn’t get accepted.

Are you instate?

Thank you for the vote of confidence. We were a little shocked. We’re figuring out this process can be completely unpredictable. Good luck to your talented kiddo!!

Kiddo now into Auburn, Clemson U of SC (with merit) and, huge surprise, Georgia. No clue how she is going to decide. Ugh. We have a lot of college trips in our future.

Amazing results! I was shocked with Georgia too considering I was defered from Clemson.

Hi all- my OOS daughter was accepted 1470 SAT 4.0 GPA. Do you know when we will hear in accepted into Honors College?

Two years ago….honors college acceptance was received Feb 25.

Do you get a better housing choice the earlier pay your deposit?

I just went back to his portal to be able to answer you question. I realized that I went straight to the personalized page instead of the part where it said ā€œview decision updateā€ - our letter like yours has been there the whole time. My apologies for the confusion but that is where we saw the ā€œat least 90K over the next 4 yearsā€ and the in-state tuition offer.

I had the same question. I see in the website that it should be some time in February but someone in Facebook college group told me that they got the honor’s acceptance one week after the EA decision, and this was last year.

Question: Where are you leaning towards? We are in the same major as yours. We are based in Texas so we got TAMU, Alabama, U of H, and Uof SC. How strong are you feeling the Alabama program is?

Son was was accepted last year EA and then on 12/22 he got his honors acceptance email.

Alabama is great, IMO. But she is leaning more toward SC. My niece just completed the masters IB program at SC and got an amazing job offer. She loved it.

I might sound stupid for asking this, but where do you find your UofSC-generated email address? It is required to login. Do you have to enroll first, to receive an email address? Her student account is set up using the VIP ID but I don’t see an official university email address anywhere.

My son was accepted as a Finance major with instate tuition. The price is now extremely attractive. Does anyone have a current UofSC grad. Wondering how easy it is as a graduate to find a job back in the tri-state area?

I made a rookie mistake and accidentally enrolled DD at U of SC thinking it was just for housing (all her other schools just required housing deposit). Subject of U of SC email just said housing portal open and I clicked on the link and paid the $200 not really reading the email. Realized my mistake after reading a FB post from someone that did the same. U of SC is a top contender, but she is not ready to commit quite yet. Still evaluating a few other schools. What should I do at this point? Contact admissions? Do nothing? Should we go ahead and pay the housing deposit? Ugh! She is my first so I am overly anxious to do all the right things, but clearly screwed up. Any advice? Feeling like I failed my kid.

I’ve sort of answered my question I think. First, the IT department was incredibly easy to get in touch with. No wait time. Good job USC. My daughter was accepted a few days after the initial wave so I’m not sure we have the email address yet. IT said there should be an email with an attachment on next steps and her email address will be listed on that. I guess we wait to see if we get that email. I’m trying to figure out if I can log into the housing portal and pay a deposit or if we need to enroll first. I know different colleges do it different ways.

Honestly I am going to do the same thing. It is the only way you get in early which allows for better choice of housing. It is the only school that he has been accepted to so far that requires this. If he chooses not to go it will be our loss and we will notify them as early as possible.
