It’s also the highest number of highschool graduates in the history of the US for class of 2025.
Makes sense.
And when I applied to school it was paper and pen. No common app. I applied to 3 schools not 20. My hand would’ve fallen off. ![]()
Totally agree, my son just said something about applying to SDSU because of something he saw on TikTok, I told him we should wait. ![]()
3 as well… UCLA, NYU and BU. Had to withdraw the applications from 2 after I was accepted ED.
Yes, and the numbers start going down after this year dramatically through 2030
what counts as the “above average performance” they talked about in the email that they are accepting based off?? is a 3.8 GPA UW and a 30 OOS enough?
I wonder if they recalculate the weighted or just go by unweighted. I also think seems best to go by weighted gpa bc of the class rigor. can’t compare a 3.8 all academic classes to a 3.8 kid who takes all honors and AP I would think.
hopefully they look at transcripts that has my weighted
I was fancy I typed my 5 on a typewriter LOL.
At the info session and on the website it says that they recalc GPAs. They can’t compare a kid whose school doesn’t give weight at all to a school that gives 1pt for AP or 2pts for APs at an diff school unless they make it all the same with some recalculation.
They recalculate.
My DS is 3.84 UW and 4.03 W if I did it correctly (based on the SC uniform grading scale) our school doesn’t weight.
I’ve run the SC grading scale a few times and always seem to get a different GPA. My best guess is 4.35W on their scale. 4.1W on my daughters transcript. She has 6 honors classes, 1 AP and 7IB. She had a few semesters with more B’s than A’s but most of her IB classes were A’s so hoping that pushes her GPA high enough.
DD applied – apparently OOS acceptance rate last year was around 80%
We did the tour last cycle when my OOS 2024 applied & was accepted. They recalculate GPA to their 5.0 scale. Fingers and toes crossed for my OOS 2025 this cycle. Between my 2004 & 2005- Same GPA. Nearly same stats. My 2025 took one level higher math, so slightly more rigor and has a couple extra sports awards. We will see.
I would love to run the SC grading scale. My DD has 8 APs and rest honors so I would like to see where she lines up. Do you have a link for that?
The 2023-2024 OOS acceptance rate was about 50%, that’s a huge increase. Overall acceptance rate is a little over 60%.
I don’t. It was a slide on the presentation. They didn’t show how they calculated it, just that they recalculate to the 5.0 scale.
Just Google South Carolina Uniform Grading scale calculator. That is what I did ![]()
