I hate to say it butI think they must have some formula - like a bar graph or something… SAT here and GPA there and based on what they have to choose from they just have to cut it somewhere. I am sure there is a holistic review for anyone unless they have a couple super close. Or maybe they have like students read them- these essays like any reading is subjective. I love faulkner - many hate him… Id accept him!

The only thing I can tell you for certain… is if you dont get in … it’s not you - its them. Who knows what they look for cuz I am sure it changes all the time if they want some diversity. I can’t compete with the 15AP captain of this and that applicant… I had to work - I couldnt. Someone can look at my app in even a holistic review and say… she isn’t a leader - she didnt need the money - she is self-paid for her education … I can see that… but I inherited money. Mom would not let us use a dime for anything outside of college and maybe a wedding or house or something. No way they can think about all this for 50,000 applicants.

Ugh this sucks. I wish they didn’t have the mistake earlier so it would at least be a surprise. Now I’m kinda just waiting around knowing what my decision will be (but admittedly hoping I get in lol)

Another poster put this info out earlier. If you have the info posted by mistake this morning, you can go to the MyUTK student portal to set up a student account. You have to enter identifying information and set up a password. Once in, it confirms you have been admitted and gives you next steps for enrollment.

Just signed in using info that popped up this morning, and definitely admitted. It says “Congratulations on being admitted to the University of Tennessee! We’re happy to welcome you to the Volunteer Family. The items below need to be completed before you arrive on campus this fall.”

Slate, the software used by the university for admissions, is not on their own servers. Slate probably used AWS or similar to run their system and for them 100,000 is nothing.

What is everyone’s next decision after this one? For me it is Purdue I think.

They were able to get the new id number (not slate one) off this morning when the glitch happend. Then they set it up from there.
UTK admission Instagram account says admission decisions are out at 7 PM tonight.
