My son graduated from Alabama in 2022–great school all around and he was able to graduate with zero debt. He has a killer career and will be a lifetime Alabama supporter.

Good to hear! My child is super excited to have gotten admitted there. He just applied to soooo many schools.
Mine too. Hate reading into it but makes me think deferral.
Until now status said ‘Awaiting Decision’
Awaiting decision for us has been gone all day basically. Was the “thank you” etc not there all along? If not it could be deferral maybe. We have it too - I just didn’t realize this hadn’t been there all along

He’s at Tulane - but had applied UVA, VT, Auburn, UTK (and others).

Oh, maybe! I cannot remember. I only know it said Awaiting Decision until I looked today and knew it was different. I may have ignored anything written under it.

Always has read that way on my DS portal.
My daughter ended up at IU and it was down to IU, SMU and LSU. She liked LSU campus the best. IU was a last minute change. IU is a big school and it’s a little cliquey especially for someone from New England but she has a good first semester.

I don’t think that Clemson is very similar to UTK. They both have the big school energy and both love their sport teams though! I agree with you on Clemson - it is a pretty special place! I love visiting.
He also applied to UNC Chapel Hill, where we are expecting him to get deferred for now, eventually rejected. He’s torn on UNC - it’s “the best” of the schools he’s applied to, and he loved the school and campus when we visited, but they don’t have his first choice major. Other than that it’s UTK, Clemson, VT - all of which have first choice major, then Pitt, UCONN, and JMU which all have second choice major. He maybe could get in to some more “prestigious” schools, but he’s so tired of the constant state of academic one upsmanship and competition at his high school. He really just wants to be somewhere that (1) has happy students; (2) has a major that could work for him and (3) has school spirit and some kind of big time sports (football or basketball) to get behind.

This is my son. 100% applied to UNC, VT, GT, NC State, UTK and JMU. UTK is top choice fo all the reasons you listed.
