@UVADeanJ , per Insta post, it said that Admissions Office ‘do not expect to do so before May 15’ - do you or admissions mean you do not expect to do it again prior May 15? or are you just saying in general this was not the plan/expectation? Thanks
I am currently on 6 waitlists…2 of which are within my top 3 schools. I am in the same boat here! All we can do now is just wait and appreciate our acceptances

I could be wrong but I assume it means that no more offers are planned to be sent out before May 15, but I believe it’s subject to change, even though that isn’t necessarily their intention. I’m remaining hopeful though, of course!
Lots of people doubt this process but I am constantly optimistic on here b/c I feel like whatever is meant to happen will…good luck to you guys!!

Would love to what the criteria were of the 57 who got off the waitlist.
Do you know who we could contact for more info on the UVA Wise option mentioned in the waitlist FAQs? My child is interested. We have had great communication with the program director at Wise but we’re trying to learn more about what the YIW kids’ experiences are like once they transfer to Charlottesville (how does housing work for them? course selection - are they last in line? etc) but we can’t find out who i Charlottesville can/will answer these kinds of questions, so we’re not sure where to turn?
I could be wrong but I want to say that the waitlist is interchangeable…everyone on it has “passed the initial cut”, so now let’s say two astrophysics majors who play violin declined their acceptance. Admissions will then go on the waitlist and look at their group of violinists who applied for astrophysics and pick the next 2 in line. And so on. Maybe there is a little bit more behind the scenes than simply that, but I’ve been given that explanation multiple times regarding pretty much all waitlists.

You can go through Reddit and find many recent posts about YiW with current students in the program posting. Overall everyone seems to be happy and recommends the program. The transition is easy, housing after the transfer is guaranteed and UVA makes is very easy for the incoming students to settle in Cville. My son visited Wise last week and signed up for the program.

I understand how it works I was just curious if in state, oos, engineering? That criteria.
I am no expert, but I think it’s based on In state/Out of state, school (within UVA), female/male. I don’t think they drill down to major since they don’t accept by major–maybe STEM/non Stem? I also think it might be location based within Virginia.

I just called UVa’s financial aid office and they advised it is going to be a few more weeks for aid packages. How is everyone handling this with other schools who have not pushed back their acceptance deadlines and it is still May 1st? I have three other schools with May 1st deadlines but UVA is my top choice but cannot make an informed decision without an aid package and certainly can’t make a decision in just a few days if it comes at the end of the month. I am so upset!

If WListed and already sent mid year grades would you now send 3rd quarter grades if they are really good?
Reach out to your May 1st top choice school that you would enroll at if UVA package does not meet what you need and ask for an extension till May 15. I believe most May 1 schools are giving extensions on special request.

Has anyone gotten off the UVA waitlist since the 57 kids were let in back in late April? Are we expecting any more acceptances?
I don’t think so. It seems like UVA is being pretty transparent with their waitlist movements. Last thing I heard was that they didn’t plan to move anyone off of it before May 15, so we hopefully should be seeing some more movement later this week (my guess is Thursday or Friday PM).
My daughter’s birthday is May 15 and she is making her birthday wish as getting a call from UVA on her birthday
