We are OOS. We have read that merit will be limited. Anyone have suggestions? Thank you in advance
Unfortunately, if you’re in that donut hole money bracket(many are) where you don’t qualify for aid but really can’t afford full price, you either find a way(loans $$$) to pony up $300,000 in the next four years or you have a hard but honest conversation with your kiddo that college costs have spiraled and it’s not worth taking on that kind of debt especially if they’re planning for grad, med, or law school. It’s hard when you’ve watched them work so hard for a dream but attending an in-state public school or small lesser known private with a great scholarship package can work just as good in most cases if you’ve got a highly motivated kid. Sorry if this wasn’t all that helpful, but I appreciated validation from parents that others families were making the same difficult choices we were back when I was worried about not providing a dream for my first kiddo. She is currently thriving at her second choice in-state school. There’s also a chance you get more aid than you are expecting so it never hurts to hang tight and wait on the financial aid package while doing research on your other options. Good luck and I hope everything works out for your family.
Heads up! S26 texted me that DOTL sign ups are up!
