Oh! End of January would be nice! Let’s hope so! I wonder if they’re using AI to help them sort through all the applications - like at Va Tech…
Dean J, an AO at UVA, says they are not using AI.
My son applied early decision but hasn’t heard anything. We checked spam and junk folders and he never received the email to sign in to a portal when he applied in October. He has sent an email to undergraduate admissions but did this happen to anyone else?
Did he log into his common app and see if he actually submitted his application? The Common App will show if the application was submitted and when the college downloaded it, etc.
Did your son get an email from UVA about creating a portal? If so, have him check his portal for his application decision. Good luck!
CommonApp says it was downloaded in November and he never received an email with portal instructions. We have went through his email about 100 times. ![]()
We tried going to the portal and saying forgot password and it says it has sent him a temporary pin to update password but it also never comes.
Did he use his school email by any chance? Or maybe there’s a typo on his email? Best to call admissions tomorrow!
Well that is a good sign that it shows it was downloaded! I was afraid it was never submitted. Is there a chance there is a typo in the email listed on his common app? Go back and look at the application and make sure the email is correct.
If it was downloaded them I’m assuming there is a decision, he just can’t access it. Double check the email and otherwise definitely call admissions.
heard ed decisions started coming out. Is it true?
ED decisions were released 12/12 (Friday)
in state, correct? OOS is still pending. ![]()
Both in-state and out-of-state ED decisions were rendered concurrently last Friday.
That’s right. I forgot. We are awaiting regular decision.
UVA also has EA. Last year those decisions were released decisions on Jan 31. RD will be even later.
Oh gosh! You are. Correct. Applied EA. ![]()
Does anyone know if applying to UVA Exploratory gives a better chance than a specific chosen major?
Hi there! We don’t admit to major with the small exceptions of Nursing and Kinesiology.
From the School Choice & Academic Interests section of the instructions:
There are eight undergraduate schools at UVA. First-year applicants can apply to:
College of Arts & Sciences
School of Architecture
School of Engineering
School of Nursing
KinesiologyThose interested in the McIntire School of Commerce, Batten School for Leadership and Public Policy, School of Data Science, or programs in the School of Education and Human Development other than Kinesiology should apply to the College of Arts and Sciences.
You may list two academic interests in addition to your undergraduate school choice. Unless you are applying to the School of Nursing or Kinesiology program, you will not declare a major at UVA until the end of your first or second year.
You may change your school/program of entry by emailing us by 5 PM on November 22nd (Early Decision/Early Action) and January 15th (Regular Decision). Admitted students should plan to enroll in the school to which they have applied.
Offer rates by school of entry can be viewed by using the drop down menus here. Nursing is more selective. Offer rates for Arts & Sciences, Engineering, Architecture, and Kinesiology are all within a couple percentage points of each other.
Following for OOS D26 that applied EA.
Did she get in?
