Submitted before the early deadline- end of Oct.
It could be they are just backed up. My daughter submitted around the same time though and all her info has been received. Are you the student? If so you can check your common app for the stuff that is missing and see if UVA has downloaded it. In the common app under UVA click on the Ferpa section and you should be able to cross check if all the required information has been submitted and then downloaded by the school. Or if you are the parent, have your student do it.
On your UVA portal, what does it say is missing?
U gave no reason why u shouldn’t be picked. Good luck.
which state ur from?
The ED decision date just says BY Dec 15th. Will they announce an exact date/time as we get closer, or will an email just come to check the portal some time before the 15th? Does anyone know historically what happens for UVA?
Per the prior two years of CC calendars, the 2024 and 2023 ED release dates were on Friday (12/13/24 and 12/15/23). If history repeats, it will be 12/12 this year.
From the thread last year, it seems 24 hours notice was given.
4.6 GPA (weighted), test optional, top 5% of class (rank not disclosed), 8 varsity letters, SCA Officer, NHS, founder and president of a school club with over 100 members targeted towards community service, DECA, numerous other clubs and extracurriculars
Also, you can check Dean J’s blog. She usually provides an ED update with the date decisions will be announced. This update can be anywhere from one to a few days before the decision date.
Great chance, especially if they’re in-state, took Calc, and 4+ years of foreign language. My D25 is a first-year and two of her good friends went TO. I’m also a Hokie Alum…I still love VT, but I really like UVA now too.
Yeah - in NOVA, currently in AP Calc AB, and five other AP/DE courses this year (with a bunch in prior years as well)… fingers crossed!
ED decisions are coming out on Friday at 5pm. It’s IG official.
Is it mostly accept and defer for early decision, or are there also a lot of rejections? I have an OOS applicant with near perfect grades and test score (also high rigor for her high school & good EC’s), but applied to kinesiology which has an even lower admit rate than the rest of UVA. I’m thinking the most likely outcome is a defer, but wondering if we should also be prepared for a possible rejection.
There will be a little bit of everything, including rejections, but it does sound like your child should at worst get a defer.
Kid deferred. Not surprised, but sad, nonetheless. She loved UVA. Already has nice options and will hopefully have even more. Will stay in the game until the final result. Good luck to your kiddos!
Thank you, she got in!
Congratulations to your daughter! My D25 is a first-year there and is loving it. My D26 applied EA so she still has to wait for her decision.
Definitely make sure she keeps her portal updated. And hopefully she has good mid-year grades to tip the scale in her favor.
My S26 also applied EA and a mid Feb decision feels like a long time from now!
@librarymom3 Congrats to your daughter!
Last year they released decisions on Jan 31, but with no supplements, they probably received more applications this year so it might take longer to read them all. But still hoping for an end of January release.
