University of Virginia Early Action/Early Decision for Fall 2025 Admissions

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Unc is tough. Certainly UVA seems reasonable. Maybe not likely but reasonable.

But would a Florida resident spend $65k more to attend, assuming you have free tuition at UF ??

We thought we would get rejected like Florida and ND.

Change of scenery is one the main reasons. I think it’s like any kid and an in state school and the urge to want to get away.

Florida is a big state

It’s ok going to UVA but I’m guessing most would see similarly ranked Florida (a bit lower) at a huge savings - I think in general it’s tough for Florida and Georgia kids to leave.

But if it’s right for your family and affordable, then it’s great.

My DD is in at UNC OOS, hoping for good news from UVA OOS tomorrow! :pray:t2:

Same with my son, hoping for UVA in state.

Just to provide the data from 2018…
2018 Admission Stats for EA
2018 Admission Stats for RD

Total applications: 37,222 (36,779 last year)
Overall offers: 9,849
Total VA offers: 4,303 (38% offer rate)
Total OOS offers: 5,546 (21.4% offer rate)

The year we had around 25,000 apps was 2011. The app numbers increase slowly here…we haven’t seen a big year-to-year jump in a long time. The last time I remember being really surprised by our application numbers after a deadline was probably around 2008 or 2009. I think this is a good thing because people aren’t surprised by the selectivity. It’s similar from the last year.

I realize it has little meaning, our portal has changed. The received documents list is gone.

does ā€œMaterial uploadā€ option is still there for u? and what about application withdrawal

Upload is there, but I don’t see withdraw option

You’re right… just tracking changes for others who may be worrying if they are outliers… and for those reading this next year…

As a former Columbia U prof (who read admissions essays - at least back then they had a faculty member read them along with the admissions officers), your daughter sounds like a fantastic student. Best of luck to her. (I’m here as a parent…)

UVA seems to really care about leadership. We’ve got one son there now and when we visit the students all have such presence and seem so mature - I suspect how it turns out for your daughter will depend on how those facets of her personality were captured in recommendations, essays, etc.

Just a couple of minutes! Good luck everybody!

UVA EA Results Survey 2025:

This form is for tracking decision results, so it’s all centralized for future students. If you could fill this out once you get your decision, that would be very appreciated!

You can see all other people’s individual responses in the links above, along with overall form statistics (such as what percent got accepted).

Rejected unfortunately.

Does anyone know if they defer a lot of applicants?
