University of Washington Class of 2028 Official Thread

Got accepted (Intl) and was assigned Pre-Sciences. Was just wondering if anyone knows the acceptance rate for international students this cycle?

My son got into Biochemistry major - college of arts and sciences. In state. Is it hard to change major as he wish to try something else?

You can do the pre-reqs once you get into the school to get into the major.

It depends on what the major is.

D24 OOS accepted, PreSciences. 4.0/4.84, 1570 SAT, 11 APs; Purple and Gold scholarship 5.2k

Here is the list of majors and their status as open or capacity constrained.

Here is information about applying to the economics major as a UW student. There are also stats on this page giving a sense of the admit rate for the major. https://econ.washington.edu/apply-economics-major

Looks like it’s not too bad for this major. The acceptance rate is trending up.

OOS
WAITLISTED for business
4.46
Tons of EC and leadership

What’s the actual OOS acceptance rate for business?

He wish to try finance or business now :joy:

I applied for political science, got in for Pre- Soc sci in the college of arts and sciences. Id like to go over to stem in the college of arts and sciences but id like to do some form of stem in the same college.

Is it safe to take a risk and come there then?

It does not look too bad, but every student who intends to apply for a capacity constrained major should have a backup plan, even if the odds are good.

If a student was admitted to another good university with direct admit or assured admission, they may want to consider that, too.

Yep, 100% agree.

DD accepted. OOS (Colorado) Environmental Science. Purple and Gold Scholarship! So excited!

We cannot move on with 6th waitlisted result so can anyone tell when should we expect waitlist result?

D Waitlisted, communication oos

It won’t be till after 6/1 when deposits from admitted students are due. I think most movement will occur mid June to early July

In recent cycles, it looks like more than 70% of applicants were admitted to the economics major, but admission is not guaranteed. Only you can decide whether it’s a risk that you want to take. Think about how important this major choice is to you, what your backup plan would be, and how much you like UW compared to other schools where you may have certain admission to the major.
