University of Washington Class of 2028 Official Thread

I am in a similar situation. I got direct admits at UW madison and UIUC in my preffered major. But I’m not sure that I should choose UW as it is not a direct admit

For ACMS I think the odds don’t look so great according to their page.

ACMS admits approximately 50 students each application cycle across all option areas. Because the UW admits more than 400 students per year who wish to study ACMS, admissions is competitive.

UW Madison and UIUC are both good schools so you may want to consider them if they are affordable.

We were accepted - but all it says is congratulations and then a link to accept or decline. With no information or letter or…major confirmation or anything else. Is there something we are missing?

For a UW student not directly admitted to the Foster School of Business, here is information on the standard admissions process for these majors: Standard Admission | Foster School of Business

i got into UT Austin, UF, UC Irvine & Davis for Econ but got rejected from UW Seattle OOS

Thank you very much. This information is very helpful.
So can my S24 select any major in presciences?

You may wish to look over the majors list, go to the department web pages for the majors that interest you, and check what the admission process is for each major. https://advising.uw.edu/degree-overview/majors/list-of-undergraduate-majors/

Capacity constrained majors will have some type of admission process. I would suggest your S24 check the individual major departments he is interested in, under “admission,” for information about how it works for each major.

Congrats to all who got in!

To those who really wanted to go to UW and didn’t…, so so sorry. College admissions has become a bit of a game unfortunately and doesn’t always reward all that hard work. Don’t give up, there are other great options. As I said before if it’s your dream go to UW, consider a WA CC for a year or so. Load up on cheap credits, and they’ll welcome you into UW with open arms! ~80% acceptance rate from WA CCs.

Major is mentioned on the Congrats page for our son. Scroll down, you will see it. Congratulations!

After waitlisted by UCD, rejected by UCI, MIT, no answer by CP SLO…S24 got his redemption, accepted by UW, engineer undecided, OOS, $4200/yr merit :smiling_face_with_tear:

So is it possible to hear back from the waitlist prior to 6/1 or no chance until after that?

Admitted to CS OOS 1590/3.98/Good ECs/international awards

Thank you very much for your help. I wish the school hosts an information session. Checking their admissions website didn’t yield anything. There are still several questions.

This is a pretty good place to ask your questions, since a lot of people are going to have similar questions!

Hey guys I got rejected and I’m planning to appeal. How likely is an appeal to be accepted?

Same here! Rejected by UCD- waitlisted by UCI - no news from SLO. Accepted OOS in pre-sciences with $4200.

Does anyone have the link to check on Honors Program admission? The link in the portal seems to direct to the wrong page.

Anything is possible with the waitlist, but you won’t feel any urgency from UW. Last year seemed like some out-of-state got in from waitlist, but very few in-state.

Most likely the timing w/b after they get all the commitments and deposits (6/1). But if acceptances are trending slower than expected, they could also grab a few more from the waitlist before then. No guarantees at all. Sorry!

They’ll have an appeals page w/ the process. It changes year-to-year.

They make a successful appeal sound unlikely, but few if any numbers are released on it, so it’s hard to guess. Anecdotally you’ll hear some people get in on appeal. But guessing the odds… sorry, just not sure that’s possible. They’d say “unlikely”.
