Waitlisted. OOS. Business.

My daughter is business as well. What are the chances of getting in if your waitlisted?

Not sure but that’s a nuisance as won’t know till June July. Are you waitlisted ? UW was not our top choice so it’s ok. We are on east coast

Yes waitlisted. Not top choice- still waiting on a bunch. Today should be interesting.

I was able to click around and found that the Honors College is going to notify people via separate email between March 15 & April 15. And any additional $$ will wait for FAFSA processing.

Son accepted. OOS, 4.0, 30 ACT, lots of music ECs, varsity letter in CC, accepted into music school for jazz performance. Unlikely to attend: also admitted to Wisconsin (in-state tuition half what OOS at Washington costs), McGill, and CU-Boulder with lots of merit money.

son accepted OOS (Georgia) with small purple/gold scholly, Construction Mgt. 3.6 UW in IB diploma, test optional. Course rigor and strong ECs helped him I am guessing.

Here’s the UW web page explaining what it means to be admitted for pre-science rather than CS. Understanding your assigned major – Office of Admissions

There are a limited number of spaces for students not admitted directly to computer science or computer engineering as freshmen. Therefore, we encourage you to pursue another major at the UW, as it is unlikely that you will be admitted to computer science or computer engineering at a later time.

It may also help to look at the Allen School’s list of computing-related majors (although keep in mind that many of these are also capacity constrained): Computing-Related Majors | Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering

Here is more information about UW admission to majors: Admission to majors – Welcome New Huskies

Most students are assigned “pre-major” at the time of admission, including those who are not admitted direct to major or direct to college. Your next steps as a “pre-major” once you are a student at the UW depend on the major you are interested in.

Here is the list of majors: https://advising.uw.edu/degree-overview/majors/list-of-undergraduate-majors/

Being a pre social sciences major doesn’t restrict you to a certain set of majors. That is, you don’t have to pick one of the majors listed under “social sciences.”

However, if you are interested in a capacity constrained major, you’ll want to check the admission requirements and process for that major. Admission to capacity constrained majors may be a fairly involved process and is not guaranteed.

DD got in bio OOS with purple and Gold 5000/year. Strong ECs and leaderships, 35 ACT, 19 APs, 4.0/4.6 gpa, Valedictorian.

Tough to predict given past variation but there’s a possibility of getting in off the waitlist.
Freshman admitted from waitlist in recent years:
2023: 2,985 of 4,122
2022: 8 of 5,347
2021: 631 of 4,668

For this data you can go to UW website and search for ‘Freshman waitlist’…
Note that it looks like a form needs to be submitted by April 1st to still be considered off the waitlist…

My son was admitted. Applied CS given pre-science…

Instate, 3.9 UW
Full honors courseloads Junior and Senior years
Test optional
Many EC’s that showed participation in school auxillaries

I see lots of people listing SAT scores along with acceptance. I thought the UW application stated not to submit test scores as they would not be considered. Did we miss something?

Our OOS son was waitlisted for Biology. Do students who are accepted from the wait list still get any merit scholarships or other aid?

OOS students receive very little in the way of scholarships and aid at UW. You can look through this thread to see what people receive for the Purple & Gold merit scholarship. Financial aid for OOS students is limited to federal financial aid. Non-Resident Students | Student Financial Aid
