Sorry to hear. What major did he request? The 5 APs can be viewed as a little light depending on high school. I’m not saying that’s fair btw. But those numbers would typically get you in. Might be worth an appeal if it’s his dream, but that’s a complete pain and can take months.
Sorry to hear! What major did you list on application?
For those continuing to post admission results, please include major requested.
Also, everyone who was admitted will get a hard copy packet in the mail (eventually) and yes there’s an admitted students day. They’ll send info about on-campus housing options etc. Almost everything is linked on the website too. There will be no lack of information!
Is the hard copy packet sent to international students as well?
Accepted OOS
4.0
8 APs - everything else honors
Cinema & Media Studies - College of Arts & Sciences
Purple & Gold Scholarship
Waiting on Honors College

Fair question, and I don’t know.
Applied for Economics first and Real Estate Second
D24 accepted, in-state, pre-social sciences (Econ), 3.95 gpa, 10 APs, 3 honors, 3 DE, mid ECs & 4 years select sport. Spent a lot of time on the essays.
This page is super helpful and transparent about which majors are capacity constrained and which one are open admit
Davis has a very high grad school acceptance rate for psych so don’t be too disappointed! You have great options.
Thanks for your replies.
OOS son was accepted “pre-humanities” in CAS
3.85 UW
12 APs
average ECs - orchestra and tennis
Waiting for honors notification
35 ACT (just for reference since UW doesn’t consider. He sent it, though)
We’ll visit in April and try to figure out the plausibility of changing major to natural sciences from humanities.
This is another really tough one. So sorry. I don’t get some of these rejections. 3.96 in-state w/ 7 APs does it for most. Econ is a bit constrained, but nothing crazy compared to others at all.
Pre-humanities doesn’t constrain your student any more than if they were pre-sciences. Your student would be choosing a major and applying to that major in the same way as a pre-sciences student.
https://advising.uw.edu/degree-overview/majors/
The vast majority of students enter UW as a pre-major (this includes pre-science, pre-humanities, etc.) This status simply means a student has not yet declared a major at UW. The type of pre-major a student is coded as correlates to what that student put on their UW application but does not impact a student’s choice of major later.
For example, if a student indicated Physics as their first choice major on their application then they would be coded as pre-science but could pursue a degree in Art History if they so choose.
It also depends on what high school offers etc. of course, but 9 APs w/ near straight A’s should certainly do it. I’d consider an appeal if it’s his dream. That’s a painful process w/ zero guarantees though.
waitlisted OOS
3.74UW / 4.06W, 10 APs including 6 senior year
super sad as this was my top choice and now i’m stuck with the schools at the bottom of my list, but i’m grateful to have even been waitlisted considering my gpa was def below the 25th percentile. I guess the essay really carried some weight
It’s possible that the 3.96 GPA is weighted? @Cappymom is this a weighted or unweighted GPA?
I’m also noting some of these for students and parents who review this thread in future years. It can be brutal and expecting it to be a “safety school” has its risks.
Great school overall, but it’s fair to question some of the admissions decisions.
Agree, if it’s weighted that would be much different.
unweighted 9th-11th.
What doesn’t make sense is some of the kids from his school that got in with much lower grades and 1-2 APs
