Been through it the last couple years - if they say it’ll be the week of 3/11 it will. Just “enjoy” the weekend!
My betting money w/b early to mid week (Mon-Wed) just b/c I don’t think they’ll want to wait until last day or two. They know the pain. Yes, UW has recently released on a Thurs or Fri, but those releases were earlier in the month. (detailed in post #5 above)
Please remind everyone, who is willing, to share their stats when admitted or waitlisted if you’d like to help others. The most relevant stats to share for UW seem to be:
In-state or Out-of-state (OOS)
UNWEIGHTED GPA (at time of application)
total # of AP classes taken
#1 major requested in the application
First generation college students also seem to get some preference at UW. If anyone chooses to share that. Feel free to add more but 1-4 seem to be most relevant.
One other item, because we found it helpful in prior years. I’ll warn you it’s a mind-numbing volume of numbers and charts. Here are the details and make-up of the 2023 UW freshmen class. Acceptance rates and all. ~62,000 total applicants for 2023, and it was mentioned there were ~70,000 applicants for 2024. The number has grown significantly since UW moved over to the common app, so this is no big surprise. It’s driven primarily by many more out-of-state applicants (a national trend really).
Just because they tend to release near the end of the week they say it will be out. Also, the few that got in early w/ scolarship said that the AOs told them everyone else would not hear back till late this week. But, we could be suprised. Hope so!
UW has been pretty good at not waiting until the last couple days to release in recent prior years. Releasing as late as 3/12 in 2021. I still think you’re right in the window now the next few evenings. 8-9pm Seattle time seems most likely based on the prior years too.
It also sure seems like that UW admissions office YouTube video (linked above) was released in preparation for the decisions going out very soon. I wouldn’t be surprised if they link the video in the emails and/or on the portal decision page.
Not the last four years anyway. And I do think that’s a very fair point and consideration!
I suspect they would have preferred to release last Thurs or Fri, but some admin or logistics issue(s) got in the way. Just my gut though. We are playing a bit of “portal astrology” at this point, so it’s hard to really know for sure.
Nah, she’s right. Counselors get special emails confirming the decision dates/times. These aren’t sent out to students to prevent tens of thousands applicants accessing the portal at once.
