University of Wisconsin Early Action Fall 2024 Admissions

There may be some admission events offered that are closer to you, we found one offered 4/13 here in the Northeast. Visiting the actual campus is obviously the preference, but attending multiple acceptance student days is a heavy lift .

Good thinking, it’s hard …we only have April and are waiting on six schools, three of which she hasn’t seen. (And she has a commitment the first weekend of April. ). I’m torn if we should tour in March so she can decide quickly, get roomie etc or wait and just view top two acceptances. Our smallish town isn’t easy to travel from.

They also have specific admitted student tours/info sessions that are not full days where you can tack on some school specific info sessions too. That is what we are planning to do. There are a lot more options.

Thanks for this info. We haven’t had a chance to look through all of the date and location options. Just curious - which city is the April 13 Northeast session located in?

If any of the three she hasn’t seen are safeties (or maybe low targets), then a March visit seems like a great compromise. If any are a true reach, I wouldn’t bother unless/until admitted.

It’s Wisco, Michigan (reach, obvi) and Delaware (already in). So think we will wait and hope for Wisconsin.

Hi! Until when the students should complete the mid-year grades? because my son’s school will give him his second trimester grades on March 8th

In FAQ I see this. Anyone know if they are taking about senior year grades or all grades? Also does anyone know the middle 50 range for SAT scores for CS?

What Do You Consider When Reviewing an Applicant Who Has Received a Defer Decision?

The most important thing we consider is your self-reported grades.

Well, presumably you would’ve already sent in your 9-11 grades with the original application, so just their Senior grades. Here’s a copy of the deferral letter we received…

Unfortunately you have until Feb 15, thats what the deferral email said

thank. you. my son did not show me the deferral letter, lol. We have not received an email regarding self reporting grades.

I don’t think my son received an email either. He discovered the mid-term grade and ā€œessayā€ submission by accident as he was clicking through his portal.

No email received for updating grades either, but we’re still waiting for 1st semester grades to be finalized as he just finished finals last week…

Yes, our daughter was accepted but the kids who tend to really obsess over grades and college admissions (were guilty of it as well) also tend to have higher stats, and I would say folks who are regularly monitoring CC even more so. I would expect the stats of people reporting here to be significantly higher (especially OOS where you have families who frequently have more money to afford OOS tuition).

For anyone deferred or rejected, I think the stats posted, while helpful, are not going to be indicative of the reality for that reason. If one was only to read CC, one might think the worst student in the country had 3.5 UW gpa and 1380 test scores, with the typical US student being a 3.9/1450+. Not the case at all

Another thing no one tends to add, but would be helpful, is odds of attending. Some kids are 100% planning to attend if accepted, while others (like my daughter) have applied to about 8 schools at a similar level, and a few above and a few below Wisconsin. We’re waiting on decisions, which give merit and some additional visits likely before deciding. As such I would say she has a 15% chance of attending even though she is really excited about the school. We just have to see. Point being a lot of the kids posting here from OOS with super high stats may not be part of the yield.

Did anyone get accepted with a gpa of 3.5?
