UPenn Class of 2028 Official Thread

Interviewer matching is probably at the school level. They try to find an alum who graduated from the same school you’re applying to.

There is still a short write up but starting this year, there is not a numeric value assigned by interviewer anymore so yes I agree with you - it seems to be more informational.

Didn’t get an interview. I guess that by this point in time if you didn’t get an interview, you probably won’t.

One minor glitch or thing that is unclear in those statistics are the ED students who are deferred and placed back in the RD pool. Theoretically these students are either counted twice ( both in ED and RD numbers) in these numbers or not counted in the RD numbers (unlikely).

I don’t think that signifies anything. Instructions for alumni interviewers are they’re informational and that they try to accommodate as many applicants as possible but there aren’t enough alumni to interview all applicants.

I’d assume it’s probably more of a “vibe check” to determine whether an applicant is truly invested in going to Penn and if they’re personable

did anyone get the upenn email that starts with “parents are unmarried”. I thought it was an automatic mail, but some people said they didn’t get it. also on reddit, someone accepted a few years ago said that this was an indicator of admission back when he applied(he and a friend both got this and were accepted)

Are the people that didn’t get that email from married parents? I would not read too much into it. I got that same email mid-February…my parents are unmarried.

Probably just a reminder to submit non-custodial parent info…

my parents are married and I still got it

Subject of the email was “ Penn Financial Aid - A Friendly Reminder”, received on 02/16.

I wouldn’t read too much into it, it is just an email with reminder to submit documentation for fin aid. Less to do with “ 1) Parents Are Unmarried, Remarried, Separated or Divorced” as there are two other items “2) At Least One Parent or Legal Guardian Owns a Business, Receives Rental Income, or is Self-Employed” and “ 3) Applicant is a Ward of the State, an Emancipated Minor, or Has a Unique Family Circumstance that Requires Additional Explanation”

This signifies nothing, just a reminder IMHO.

okay, probably just a coincidence those kids were accepted.

Same here, don’t think it means anything

Does anyone know when likely letters are usually sent out?

They probably were already sent out.

And if they weren’t already sent, they’d do so by this Friday

There’s no peep of likely letters on the UPenn Reddit thread! If people got them already I’m surprised no one has posted! I’m guessing by March 15th!

Likely letters are more common in the fall for recruited athletes. I have not seen any indication of likely letters from Penn in RD season in recent years. Has anyone heard or seen otherwise?

Regardless, the Ivies that do give out likely letters still use them sparingly. They’re a pleasant surprise, but there’s really no use in tracking them.

I have seen nursing students get likely letters in past years

Such a strange feeling to have submitted her RD application for nursing around Labor Day and still haven’t heard anything from Penn except an interview. It’s been soooo long!
