@testpokemon98 i did and the exact response is that they most likely will come out at the end of May. I just called the admissions office and they stated that they usually come out mid-May. I’m not really sure now when they are going to come out.
@studyybug I emailed my regional counselor and he said mid-may. I sent the email on April 21.
@studyybug Damn that’s annoying they’re supposed to come out May 8th. Well, at this point, all we can do is speculate the reason for them needing more time for appeals. Maybe they received a lot more appeals this year and they need more time to go through them all? Maybe they’re too busy dealing with accepted students with questions about the school/financial aid? Maybe they’re at a deficit of enrolled students and need more time to seriously consider accepting more appeals (hopefully lol)? Anyone else have thoughts?

@CADREAMIN and @WWWard Do you have any thoughts/info on this? ^^^ The official USC info says May 8th they will release appeal decisions, but people are hearing otherwise? Thank you!
@pdiddy415 aw man well I’m still hopeful for May 8th but who knows at this point.
@testpokemon98 I’m hopeful that it still comes out May 8th since that’s what it still says on the applicant portal. At least, I hope they update us on May 8th about the exact day.
Something strange that did happen was that my portal changed to show my appeal letter and the time and date I submitted. I just checked the portal again, and it’s back to the normal portal. It probably was a mistake.
I just emailed my regional AO and he said the date is still May 8th!
@ay2020 that’s so strange that we all are hearing different dates ?
Are they dividing it possibly by region???
I’m still hopeful for May 8th since I have to submit a lot of scholarship information.
It may be regional, but the way he worded it was as if there have been no changes to the original set date for everyone (May 8th)
@ay2020 I guess all we can do is wait until May 8th at this point.
It should be the date they put out there originally which has been stated is the 8th (was that in writing somewhere?). When you call (or email for that matter) they will always say “end of the month” to any question that starts with “When will xxx come out.” They just don’t like those calls, some students will call 5-10 times with same question - imagine if they all do that!
Happens over and over. Funniest posts are during regular decisions someone posts March 23rd, “I just called and they said April 1st.” An hour later decisions are released. Happens all the time.
Given that it is a year like no other, I guess everything is pretty fluid so just have to wait.
@CADREAMIN Thanks for your input!
“Given that it is a year like no other…” To address this, do you have any idea how the pandemic situation may affect appeal chances this year? I heard they accepted 2,000 more students this year, but what we don’t know is if this is less/more than enough to accommodate the drop they’ll see in their yield rate. I’ve also read articles about another USC admissions scandal, one about LA’s antibody test proving that there are FAR more cases than claimed, and more about USC refusing to give up stimulus money they received from the federal government and also refusing to partially refund tuition for online classes. Anyone have any thoughts?
@CADREAMIN Thank you so much for this insight! The May 8th date is on the applicant portal in the FAQ’s section.
I wouldn’t overestimate the impact, there are many people not changing their college plans as well. Looking for news that will affect the appeal numbers (or interpreting it to your favor) isn’t a good use of time. Last years figures were higher than they had been, but percentage wise and actual successful appeals, not that big of increase. It just became more legend on here. It is my understanding that appeal figures won’t be adjusted over planned range. And it has to be a worthy appeal, they won’t just let them fly to fill holes, they have other sectors they can use for that.
oh and what? The USC study is not a scandal - it posted same results that Stanford study did, that more people in CA have already had covid and it was here much earlier. That’s not a scandal, that was a scientific study.
@CADREAMIN Interesting! Also I was referring to another admissions scandal that was recently released about an admissions officer that was caught faking applications for international Chinese students applying to the school.
Oh sorry, I misread, thought you were referring to study as a scandal, I missed the comma I suppose, apologies! You are talking about the guy that faked transcripts for mediocre Chinese students in 2016-2018. Ya similiar thing at UCLA where former and current students took English proficiency tests, or TOEFL, on behalf of applicants from China. So many cheaters! It catches up with them all eventually and quite costly too!
@COmama24 Sorry, but I have no additional insights. Good luck…
Funny thing, I’m committed to UCLA right now. Wonder what’s gonna happen with my USC appeal
@lovestay345 omg me too! Time seems to be going sooooo slow now
