USC Class of 2028 — Regular & Early Action Decisions

I would take it as a potentially good sign. It at least indicates that he may be “on the bubble”, and that they are seeking additional info to make the final decision. In the case of my two daughters, they were each also asked to do so. Ultimately, they were each eventually admitted RD and attended. Good luck to him…

Except the scores will not be considered. The policy is very clear.

All students can join the Thematic Options Honors program. It’s writing intensive so if your son likes to write, then it can be a great option.

Yes. So he can submit SAT score i recommend. Other students send emails their interesting yet. It is their choices, who knows.? because some believe their interesting emails made them to get in from deferral .

With all due respect, if the ruling (from Aug 2023) is being adhered to why are we continuing to be asked about race, gender, and sexual orientation on college applications? (And I don’t ask that rhetorically.) Any information collected strictly as data points can be acquired AFTER an applicant accepts his/her admission, not in the application itself.

Surely you can see how that can be confusing or misconstrued.

It is disappointing, but it’s how it works. I learned about this when my eldest was in 9th grade. Eye-opening. Needless to say, I did not/do not encourage my kids to spend much time pursuing scholarships unless it’s something special they really want to do.

No matter what, some students do and they believe they got in with their interesting. Above student would send his SAT score so i told " it is nothing to lose" what’s wrong.? And they can choose whether they appeal or not because it isn’t illegal. I want to encourage students to do their best.

I kind of agree. AOs are human, sometimes it totally depends on their mood. You have nothing to lose by submitting it.

It is required for everyone to submit the mid-year report, so it might just be a generic email. Since your son already has a stellar GPA, the first-semester grade should not be the major concern from the AOs stand of point.

. It’s not me. Above one student asked if he could submit SAT score now. So i encouraged him to show his continue interesting. I don’t understand why i am attacked for this comment. What’ s wrong?
Many people attack if someone asks that they were asked about financial stuffs or anything from college where they applied if it is good signal . The parents and students in this community are in same boat. There are any no reasons to attack other’s questions and opinions. I hope all cheers up each other.

I would try to submit that SAT score too.

Regarding submitting scores now, I probably wouldn’t since they specifically said not to. USC is one of the few schools I’ve seen that has a process for decision appeal/ reconsideration if you are rejected, so I would personally use those scores as a new piece of data to add in a decision appeal if not admitted.

I would strongly suggest reaching out to your assigned admissions officer on this one. Personally, I would want schools to have my kid’s test scores. I am aware that USC doesn’t want unsolicited supplemental information, but that pertains to letters of recommendation and additional materials. Test scores are different, IMO. Your test scores are decent. I can’t believe you were advised against submitting them.

Our student applied undeclared engineering. If they have decided on a major, does anyone know if it advisable to update that information?

I highly recommend Thematic Options. My son is finishing his second year in the program and the classes and teachers have been some of his favorites. I’ve been impressed by the attention they get from the teachers, both in class and in grading/commenting on their papers. We sat in on a class and the level of discourse and participation is much higher than a normal college class, as you’d expect when the class size is less than 20. He has sought recommendations for labs and jobs from several of his TO teachers, since they get to know him so well.

Thank you. We’ve signed up for informational zoom session in March and my son is definitely into it, since he loves, loves writing.
The recommendation letter to USC was from his AP English teacher emphasizing on his writing skills, so I think it will be good fit.

Does USC release decisions in waves or at the same time?

At the same time.

Should we take USC’s word for April 1st decisions release? An instagram post suggests this as a likely date
