@cocoloco555 wow, that is brutal. I sure feel your pain. What major did you apply to?
I applied to biology as my first choice and mathematics as the second! @TexasMom2017
@beverlyg Thanks for your advice & I couldn’t agree with you more. So your son was in a similar situation? …and he’s doing great and is glad that things turned out the way they did? I hope in a few weeks I’ll be saying the same thing. Of course, I’ll be selling a kidney to pay for BC, but it’s worth it to make my kiddo happy.
Does anyone think appealing is worth the effort?
Hey have any internationals received their decision?
@austingal it depends what additional info you would provide to UT. I feel like there would have to be something extremely different and unique to maybe have ur decision appealed but I’m not sure
@nyanpasu_ I have and it’s rejection. My heart broke.
Does anybody know about PACE? Is it worth it?? Do I get to live on campus? Do I still have the privileges of a full time UT student?
Still wanting to know if Cap is offered to all who are denied, or if some actually get a full rejection?
@123vca Yes, UT does fully reject some applicants.
@Longhornalum2 My son is very happy at USC. It was weird to get PACE from UT yet accepted to USC where I think the admit rate that year was 17%. Admissions is tricky. To be honest, PACE was a big surprise. UT did come back and offer him a spot for fall about 5 weeks later but he had to choose from public policy, communications or education and engineering nor business was not an option on the list of colleges so he declined. BC is a great college! Encourage your daughter to see the many opportunities ahead of her (as I believe you will). Attending college out-of-state has been rewarding and different all in a positive way. It’s easy for me to say now because he loves USC. It was a transition at first but now he’s settled in and is very happy. He said what he likes best about USC is all students are engaged and bright. To him and me, the admissions process is now forgotten and that will happen once your daughter chooses BC and steps on campus. Good luck to you and your daughter. The next 4 years will be fun, amazing, challenging and I think we can agree that’s all we want for you children. Again, congrats to those that received admission today and for those that did not, there is a another university out there that really wants you!
Does anyone know if everyone gets the CAP Program if they dont get accpeted?
@utfan2021 From what I have read, a PACE student does get to live on campus and gets most if not all of the same privileges as a regular UT student. If you don’t mind me asking, were you offered PACE?
My son got declined for Chemical Engineering… Honestly pretty surprised. Not sure what UT is looking for, and all that holistic review of the application is a BS. He just placed First Overall in Academic UIL in Science in state of Texas back in December. Yes #1 out of thousands of kids in Texas who was participating in that competition. He is auto admited to UT, as he is in top 5% of his school. His second choice was Biochemistry. And today UT is telling him that unfortunately they are not able to offer him the admission to his first or even second choice of the major he selected, but giving him an opportunity to select from the other still available majors like Geography and Urban Studies. Are you kidding me?
All I can say, UT made it easy for us and we are going to Texas A&M where he was accepted not only to Chemical Engineering but also in Honors program.
For those of you who got accepted … congratulations! And for those of you who didn’t, here is the article that probably will explain exactly why some of the best students have zero of chance to be accepted to UT in Austin.

I was accepted to my first choice major which is Physics, my gpa was 3.54W, and my rank was 97/433, but I did take a good amount of AP classes(9), had good essays, an internship at Caltech, and a letter of rec from a caltech physicist, so that may have helped. my SAT was a 1310/1600 new and I am OOS
@austingal although I am not familiar with the appeal process at all, I know from friends whose children have gone through the process that an improved class rank currently from what it was when you applied could help an applicant’s chances.
Is it possible to appeal a CAP offer to PACE? And, do you lose your initial offer if the appeal is denied… anyone know?
@sasha94 - PACE is a very good program. I know several kids who have matriculated completely into their major, and saved some money at ACC. Congratulations!
Congrats to all accepted!
yes
