UT Austin Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

Question - for those that that seem to know things… for non-AA - do they ever get in the school in a major that is not first or second choice? (like moved to COLA, undecided) Or are they just rejected if they do not get their first or second choice major? Thanks for the input.

Does anyone know when non-AA applicants will hear back?

For non-AA, UT only looks at first major. They do not consider second major, unfortunately. :frowning:

My daughter is also a Comm/Leadership major - OOS priority. We have not heard anything.

Priority applicants will be told by 2/1

If they don’t consider them, why would they have the option to put a second choice major on the application?

AA and Plan II will be considered for their 2nd majors. They will bend over backwards to keep their top tier students and find them a spot. They just don’t have room after all AA, Plan II and high stat non-AA (that by now have already heard if they were accepted). Sad but true. It’s on their website somewhere too.

I think bc that is just their standard application… but it is true . They only look at 1st choice major for non aa.

Does anyone know if all non-autos have received their decisions? Not sure if there will be an acceptance wave for non-autos this week?

There are many non-AA’s that haven’t heard back. Everyone should hear something by 2/1 if they applied Priority. We’re not sure if there will be any more admittances for non-AA students in the Priority group or not, but we hope so!

I don’t believe they have. I haven’t received a decision and neither have a lot of people from the UT subreddit thread.

For large suburb ISD could be mostly CAP/PACE this end of week.

I highly doubt that they are done admitting non autos’s. I know so many that haven’t gotten in yet, yes there will probably be some CAP/PACE this week. But they still have many more non autos to accept.

I’m non-auto, however, I did attain the semi-finalist level for the forty-acres scholarship. Does this have anything to do with admission or no?

I think you’re likely to get in, but I’m surprised you have not heard already if you were interviewed for 40 Acres. Good luck!

My daughter was directly told otherwise an in email by her UT admissions counselor and school college counselor (who worked in UT admissions for a decade.

In her case, she put Plan II first and a major in Moody second. The UT admissions contact said that Plan II is a special circumstance so they would definitely consider Moody if she didn’t get admitted for Plan II.

Does your second choice major matter? — Tex Admissions.

Here is a blog post from Kevin Martin (who is a former UT AO who specializes in UT Admissions) regarding 2nd choice majors for all the questions about why does UT even have it if they don’t consider it the majority of the time. I’ve received a lot of helpful information from his book, blogs and videos. Plan II is an exception to not using 2nd choice spot.

How likely is it that UT accepts any more priority OOS students? I feel like there is pretty much no chance of getting in as we have already waited so long (just reject me already) :sob: .

If they think you deserve it, you will get in. We technically weren’t supposed to “wait” as the decision is to be posted by Feb 1. However, it is likely that not many OOS get in due to test-optional and COVID and what not. The best thing to do is to look for Feb 1 and not some random Friday based on “past notification dates.”

What are the chances for international students? I know it’s slim but can anyone give me an exact number?
