I will actually lose my mind
What time do they usually release admission results
Usually 5pm, end of class in order to avoid any gossips
gl gl today. I’m also looking forward to UoM releases today
I would be so disappointed if they don’t release today, I have prepared celebrations and tissues, depends on how it goes either way.
same lol
Guys, I’m going to bed now, it’s late here. But if there is something new, plz tag me in to keep me in the loop, even if it’s in the middle of the night. I don’t want to miss anything with u guys. Thank you so much and best of luck to yall !!
did you hear back from UT? it is crazy when they go by class rank as I beleive it is apples via oranges. Not all kids take the same course . Wish they bring a system where the class rank is based solely on required courses to graduate and not on the rest. That way class rank has a meaning and holistic review makes sense , motivating the kids to push themselves
Have not heard back, fully expecting to get CAP on Feb 1 lol.
Still waiting for TAMU as well, it’s excruciating. All these little drips and waves…I REALLY wish these two schools would just have ONE released date and let everyone know at the same time. I’m very disappointed with the way UT & TAMU handle their admission biz.
We’re going up to Tech on 2/19 for admitted students day, he needs to keep all his options open and carry on with plans b or c.
they do ! as long as the application was on time and te required documents were not too off the deadline
tech is a good school. My daughter goes there and a very nice campus too. I like it better than TAMU. TAMU releases admission on rolling basis. What major did he apply for?
Ok guys going forward, My second one is starting high school next Fall. How can I get him to top 6%? My first guy had all As ( except an 88in Honors English) even in dual credits and APs and all Honors. He was only top 15%. But he was in band and baseball and took Spanish which all brought his GPA down. And yes my second one wants be an attorney and possibly judge. So is COLA be the best for undergraduate?
Honestly if he’s just starting next fall, he is probably looking at top 5% the way things are trending.
My son got into Tech and really wanted to go but it’s an 8+ hr drive and with Covid we didn’t visit any campuses. Who knows? If he would of visited and fell in love with it, I may have said yes.
My daughter is OOS and received her acceptance in December.
For TAMU he applied to Mays for his first choice and Econ as second choice
He’s already been accepted to Rawls College of Business at Tech and has applied to the Scovell Business Leadership Program there. He’s also accepted to UTD JSOM and has interviewed for their Davidson Management Honors Program…so lots of good options!
It’s all about class selection. My D was top 2% at one of the big competitive 6A schools. We planned out her classes in middle school and did the non-weighted courses during the summer and in 8th grade. She missed top 10 because she took one unweighted class sophomore year. When it tanked her rank, she dropped it second semester. Paid off for us. Got onto UT BHP with merit and had many better offers.
My D ended up with 15 AP/IB courses and 3 or 4 dual/concurrent enrollment.
Wow! That’s awesome! Well if that’s the case, he can forget it. He plays baseball and that’s on level and no summers off. Plus the courses he wants to take(Business classes) are all on level too. But he’ll take all Honors, AP, dual in the core classes. It’s a big 6A school too.
So I would not necessarily stress about the top 6% above all else. My son was just shy of 6% (6.3%) at a competitive public high school and was admitted in November for Plan II and Global Studies. He was a 4-year varsity athlete which hurt his GPA and took some honors classes instead of AP when they fit him better which dropped his GPA compared to others. His extra-curriculars were unique and matched his college major and long term interests well. I think (but am just guessing) that is what made the difference for him.
Check to see how your school ranks and how much of a modifier AP and honors classes have. If he wants to be in the top 5-6% then he’s definitely going to want to stack up on the maximum amount of honors and AP classes as possible and of course get the highest grades possible.
However, if he’s able and wants to, he could self-study for AP exams. If he gets a 3 he would be able to claim credit for the class. These credits can replace regular and low-grade classes once he has the required amount of credits to graduate (my school just counts them as Pass/Fail), which boosts GPA. Check with your school to see how they do it, but I’m pretty sure schools are required to give you credit for a class if you get a 3 on an AP exam in the state of Texas.
Of course it’s way more important that he doesn’t stress himself out over all this stuff, but self-study AP exams are an interesting rank-hack.
