UT Austin Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

Our HS also does not rank, so for my S21 it says ‘satisfied your high school rank’ the high school you attended does not rank. We are also from CA.

Yes, same for me. I’m in MA and my high school does not rank. My counselor didn’t have to send in any letter explaining why either

Hopefully, it’s not just those at the bottom of the top 6% who didn’t submit test scores. I sent my SAT score and I’m ranked in the top 1.4% but I’m still waiting… and so is another friend of mine who’s ranked not as high as me but well within the top 4%. We both applied for Mechanical Engineering as our first choice (but he also applied to Butler music for dual major I think). We’re just hoping our applications were at the bottom of the pile for some reason and we get accepted.

Perhaps your schools automatically send that information regarding their non-ranking policies. But:
https://admissions.utexas.edu/apply/freshman-admission#fndtn-freshman-admission-hs-transcript-required

“What’s Required: Transcripts must include your class rank in addition to information about high school coursework… Rank should be indicated as your numerical position out of the total number of students in the class…If your high school does not rank students, include a statement from your school describing its policy, a copy of your school’s profile and a GPA or grade distribution report.”

When were you accepted? Last week as well?

Thank you, I’ll have her email or call!

Agreed. I’m hoping for the best for all of those with high stats who seem to have fallen through the cracks. Best of luck!

I was auto-admitted back in September (when I submitted my application) but I’m still waiting on major decision. Funny how people who submitted their application later than me got their decision before Christmas but I’m still here waiting. It’s frustrating to say the least.

Thank you. It does seem weird to me that her high school counselor would not have known to send this… Obviously, she’s not the first student to apply to UT! Hopefully it is easily rectified. Thanks for all of your responses!

Anyone else waiting to hear from ECE or Computational Engineering?

I am waiting on math as well. Non-auto admit from a large TX school.

when you look at the dashboard, Click on Done and go to “High School rank”, does it say “the high school you go to does not rank”?

Mine says "Satisfied your High School Rank

The high school you attend does not rank."

My son was AA and got into CNS for Math major in mid-December

19/567 rank at suburban competitive HS
3.96 unweighted GPA
Lots of volunteering, 4 year varsity sport, volunteer swim coach 3 summers, NHS & Science NHS
Did not submit any test scores until mid-Nov, so not sure they were looked at since it was too late, but 750 on math SAT

Good luck, everyone.

That’s true. My son was one of them. He wanted Mechanical engineering (2nd choice was EE) they put him in civil. He appealed twice but was denied. We looked at chances of internal transfer and it is dismal. He’s at the University of Michigan where he is guaranteed his 1st choice major no matter what, but even so, he got all As 1st semester. Michigan is a better engineering school anyway, so it all worked out, but I know how stressful this is.

Good for your son. Michigan is a great school with top engineering programs. It’s really tough to get in though, especially for OOS students.

True! Kind of shocking he got in to UMich, Purdue, and Illinois for his preferred engineering major, but not UT where he was an automatic admit and in-state-26 out of over 700.) My husband went to Michigan, so maybe that helped him. My 2021 twins got into UT in December (in 1st wave), so it’s a mystery to me how some super qualified automatic admits do not get their preferred major and apply early, but don’t hear until very last wave (like my son) and others get in super early (like my twins). One was a automatic admit and one was not, but they both found out in early December.

It makes no sense someone want ME or EE and UT puts the person in Civil. Except Calculus there is nothing sharing between ME and Civil. Petroleum vs Chemical may make some sense. UT is the only college that does that to students.
