UT Austin Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

which reddit thread?

r/UTAustinAdmissions2

thats great to hear! Im just afraid that plan 2 would hinder my pre med gpa along with my psych degree, I want to have time to study for my pre med classes without grade deflation from plan 2 classes

Consultant says real major wave is this week.

Before winter break ~2k admissions (mostly AA)
Last week ~6k+ admissions (mostly AA)
this week ~7k+ admissions (some AA + non AA + OOS)
After Feb1st regular decisions/Fine Arts/Architecture ~2.5K to 3k admissions

CAP/PACE doesn’t count towards admissions will be on Jan 29th.

If yield holds around 47%-49% about 8500 freshmen will show up.

My daughter is auto admit and still waiting.:weary:

Same here. My son is waiting too to hear from Engineering. Hopefully good. If not, UT is not the end of the world. I won’t ask him to go to UT to do Arts or Science since he has no interest in either.

Are you saying no RD until after Feb 1 ?

Most likely. UT needs to keep the promise on PD (application complete before Nov 1st to have decision by Feb 1st). You can tell UT admission office barely makes that deadline every year.

There were a few special cases last few years some RD got acceptance earlier, it could be due to the decision being easy. But for sure RD applicants won’t receive rejection by end of Jan.

Mine too :worried:.

Same. I’m hoping this week will be the last of the auto admits, those at the bottom of the Top 6% who did not submit test scores. Maybe those applications just take longer to consider. At least that’s what I’m telling myself!

Hmm yeah it’s confusing. Did your child apply priority? Also may I ask what major they applied for?

Is there anyone who has not been admitted, has access to the RIS thing, and has not been enrolled in a UT course in their high school career? Reply if you do!

even someone who has taken a high school UT course and does not have access to the RIS thing

Yes - applied priority. AET in COFA and heard 2nd week of Feb.

I know last year some auto admits were turned away from CS , Mechanical, Aero and Chemical at the very end . So for some , that was both their first and second choices.

Hate to see that .

Just learned my daughter’s class rank is missing from her portal. Her school does not do class rank, and my understanding is her counselor was supposed to make a note of this (send an email? I am not sure…) Her portal states, “Any information received now will be considered late.” She has emailed her counselor, but everything is virtual right now and of course, it’s a school holiday so who knows when she will hear back. Any idea how badly this will hurt her admission chances? (For what it’s worth, her stats are: OOS/California, 4.4 WGPA/4.0 GPA/32 ACT. In general, a strong application with a great essay and lots of extracurriculars, including two leadership positions and three years varsity cheer.) Thanks for any advice or insight you can offer! (EDIT: She applied RD to McCombs)

My school does not rank either so I never sent in my tank. UT will rank you themselves based on other applicants. You don’t have to worry about anything unless it’s saying that the item is missing on my status. They should do that themselves

Her portal does show it missing – “Class rank missing”. They have her transcripts, but her transcripts don’t list rank or total number of students. So unless it’s self-reported or submitted directly by her counselor, I’m not sure how they would get it in the first place?

Great! Thank you.

My S21’s school doesn’t rank, and in the Coalition App process they said they required an official, school, guidance-originated letter which explains the ranking policy and why they don’t rank. My son is in a huge NYC school, so getting that letter was excruciating, since UTAustin was the only school to ever ask for that. It was late, so I’d spent time on the phone with admissions explaining why it wasn’t there yet. They let his application stay in Priority, and maybe they did that with others, as well. That’s just my experience! You might want to call admissions for clarity.
