UT Austin Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

Wow! AP Physics C is no joke! Taking both Kinematics and Electromagnetism the same year and both got 5s? I would say only a few can achieve that feat in the entire US.
But then again I think many HS students tried too hard to boost GPA and many lose track of course relevance.

They did not say and I did not ask. But I uploaded our high school ILR via my document. Our high school will have updated transcript on Jan 29th.

Can OOS students get deferred?

Yes, CNS biochem is like engineering’s BME. Top 9% has a chance and this week will be it.
SAT is more like the first filter of candidates, after that, UT looks into the transcript detail. High ranking makes decisions easier but at times they also look at the course strength closely. One getting all the Fine Arts As but lacking core classes for science may not get admitted to Engineering or CNS even with high ranking. Many in CC forum won’t divulge the detail.

As for premed fyi, A&M’s BIMS is also very prestigious. Texas Tech also have a pre-med track that goes straight to med school (no MCAT required).

I got into Biochem early December. She has a much better SAT than me (1420) but I was in the top 6%. I also did cross country and also lost my brother my sophomore year. Strangely similar lol! It seems like it’ll mostly come down to if her SAT is enough to make up for not being in the top 9%. Don’t exactly know how hard Biochem was to get into but I hope my similarities help!

^ unrelated but has anyone seen their RIS change lately?

oh my gosh, that makes me so sad for her because she wanted to change for biology and its too late now. Biology is probably a bit easier since its a broader major. I think her sat is for sure her strength, her science classes and math classes are really really high, her best subject is math in which the lowest math grade on her transcript is a 96. Really hope tommorow she gets amazing news.

Yes, she was not a GPA chaser. Her Junior year was basically two AP physics C, AP calculus BC and the required AP language. She “only” had 7 APs before senior but all are As and 5s in CB tests. These facts made her essays stronger and more distinguished. She did not need to wait till January last year before getting acceptance to ME.

wanna hear something that sucks? As a senior currently, shes in the top 6 percent. But she turned in her junior year transcript where she was top 9 percent

Also congrats on biochem!!! U must be so happy! My sat sucked but I turned it in anyways lol

If that’s the case I think she has a good chance. AP Chem is one of the toughest AP so having good scores on AP Chem class is important for Biochem. Our school counselors tirelessly remind us if we want to go premed track we need to finish AP Bio and AP Chem by 11th grade.

Thank you!! Congrats on psychology too! I wasn’t that happy with my sat and I was gonna take it again but then corona happened. I’m glad it all worked out

she took ap chem and passed the class with a 92 and got a 3 on the exam, she took AP env. sci instead of bio but she took AP physics and Calculus this year (she currently flexes a 100 in ap calc right now)

i applied after Nov 1 (so not priority), should I also expect a decision sometime this month or no?? They said non-priority will be released before March

I believe the dates quoted above were for priority decisions only (those who applied before Nov 1). Everyone else should hear before 3/1. I’m unclear of specific regular decision dates.

Most of AA at my son’s school, including my son, are still waiting.

Can someone please explain - slowly (lol) - what the “important info canvas” thing is…???

You will!

Hi everyone! I didn’t know much about UT until after the priority deadline, but after researching it more, it is definitely one of my top two schools! I was only able to meet the regular deadline, but am obviously VERY anxious to hear back (as is everyone else). Does anyone know if any RD decisions will be released in today’s wave, or just priority? Thanks

I don’t know about “important info”, but Canvas is the learning management system used by UT (and many other schools), where professors post everything related to their courses – syllabi, assignments, exams, and grades.
