UT Austin Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

nope

CAP is similar to Blinn except

  1. Only COLA is guaranteed transfer to UT, all other departments will need to reapply like regular transfer.
  2. Once offered, you will have a very very small window to enroll. Past couple of years in early Feb one day at 6pm. Within 30 seconds CAP was filled.
  3. CAP schools are UT SanAntonio or UT Arlington. If you apply UTSA/UTA separately any scholarship is not transferrable to CAP program.

Nothing here, maybe it’s tomorrow

I feel they will wait till the end of next week.

Maybe the massive wave is tomorrow?

Somewhere back in this feed, someone mentioned a counselor had given them dates. Anyone have that information? I can’t remember if they said a big wave tomorrow or not. Thx!

yess tmrw is the huge wave apparently and next Friday is possibly the rejections, caps, pace programs.

Fri., Jan. 15 - top 6% auto students mostly in state (about 6,000 students)
Fri., Jan. 22 - all admits except architecture & fine arts
Fri., Jan. 29 - CAP admits (I would assume this includes PACE and rejections too)

Before winter break ~2k admissions (mostly AA)
Last week (week of 1/11) ~6k+ admissions (mostly AA)
This week (week of 1/18) ~7k+ admissions (some AA + non AA + OOS)
After Feb 1st regular decisions/Fine Arts/Architecture ~2.5K to 3k admissions

Thank you!

PACE is the UT Austin equivalent of A&M’s Blinn Team. You can live on UT Austin’s campus in the dorms, you take one UT Austin class and the rest of your classes are at ACC (Austin Community College). If you do well enough after the first year you can convert to a regular normal UT Austin sophomore.

CAP is when you do your freshman year completely at a different UT campus (San Antonio, Arlington, etc). You live at that campus and take all your classes at that campus. If you do well enough you can then transfer to UT Austin after the first year. A&M doesn’t really have a CAP equivalent.

I hope I finally get into Mechanical Engineering tomorrow… the wait is almost over!!!

Weird. I emailed the admissions office and they said they would be happy to review my first quarter grades if they arrived before they reviewed my app.

Did you apply priority by submitting your application by 11/1?

Got similar response myself. I already admitted to BME asking for Engineering Honors application update, AO said they can look at my 12th grade updated transcript including fall semester.

Can someone give me an estimate of how likely I am to get into Cockrell for MechE RD or their honors program (I’m not betting too much on the latter anyway lol)
In state at decent school, top 12% 3.83uw/4.25w, 1480 SAT, 11 APs,
ECs/whatever else: NHS, National Art Honor Society, Environmental Club, Regional art award, essay won internship to summer engineering institute, commended scholar & Autodesk certified
1st gen Asian female
supplement & essay were lukewarm, 2 LOR: one I’m assuming is pretty good & the other likely mediocre
Don’t have the “important info” canvas courses though, so it could be a good sign for those who’ve got that!

Pretty tough as even top 2% auto admit are waiting.
But my niece went in last year as non-auto (8%). I assumed the holistic review did take course strength into consideration. My niece took AP Calc BC and two AP Physics Cs (tougher than Physics1/2) at junior year and all three got As and 5s in CB tests. It made her essays easier to tie to her interest and career goals. Her two LORs were from both Physics Cs teachers.

That is interesting. Did they say that at this point would self-reported grades work or do they need an official transcript?

is biochem hard to get into at UT? I got into psychology and currently waiting on my friends decision. My friend got a 1520 on the sat and is in the top 9 percent, but her ec are different from UT standerds: she was in cross country and choir for 4 years, co-founder of a math club, and a part of nhs. She did go through hardship however and lost her mom her sophmore year. Shes white and is from a high income family. My anxiety for her acceptance is out the roof. She will go to a&M if not accepted into UT. We both want to dorm and persue pre med together :frowning: As she comes from a competitive highschool, do you guys think she will get accepted? her academics are pretty strong (3.8 gpa uw) 15 ap classes total
