UT Austin Class of 2028 Official Thread

So, today is ruled-out, I assume?

No way to know for sure

Last year people found out around this time, which is 5:45pm to 6pm

Today is not the day it seems.

I’m 51% sure that it will be on 1/30

Not sure if anyone will know this, but it’s worth asking. Last year, an email from UT Admissions to HS Counselors (which said decisions would come that night) was leaked the morning of the day decisions came out. Was anyone ever able to verify if the email was legit, and if so, should we expect that again on the day of decisions this year?

I think so too. But tomorrow could be a possibility.

Did anyone else’s ā€œmy documentsā€ upload your mid year transcript and your original transcript yesterday 1/24 around noon?

Yes my kid’s portal showed the mid year report received from his school 1/20

i dont see that, just my 1st transcript 11/06 :grimacing::grimacing::grimacing:

I’m not sure all schools send them. I didn’t think our school sent them to UT or TAM, but I guess they did.

Does UT require mid-term report? Do we need to send them?

No. I didn’t even think they took them at all….

Does everyone have 3 rec letters in their documents? My daughter says she swears they would ONLY accept 2 letters of rec and they would NOT accept a counselor rec. she said she only got a counselor rec for Georgia. What could the other letter be!!!

Hmmm. I thought Common App requires the Counselor Letter. I’m my kid’s school counselor because he is homeschooled, and I don’t think there’s an opt out option. However, schools have the option of what they download. That’s why I’m perplexed why they downloaded the MidYear report, because they specifically say on Common App that UT does not require it.

She says in common app you load everything. But you only send certain things to certain schools. In UT it only has slots for 2 teacher recs. No slot for counselor Rec. but In Georgia through common app it had 2 slots for teacher and 1 slot for counselor……

For my common app, there are 2 spots for teachers, 2 spots for others, and 1 for counselors.

Correct. You load all of that into common app. But within common app when you submit to each school it only has 2 teacher rec for UT. That’s all you can load to UT….

UT did download my Counselor Letter that was in Common App, even though no references at all are required for UT. There are 2 teacher recs that are optional and two Other recs that are optional. They did, however, because it was available, take both my kid’s professor recs and my Counselor Letter from Common App. This is why some people are being perplexed by the Rec Letter #3 in their MyStatus. It’s most likely the Counselor Letter. All are optional, but if posted on Common App, it’s free game for any applied to school to download. Further, the counselor cannot pick and choose to which schools anything goes, UNLESS they send it separately outside of Common App, or if they delete something before a school downloads it. I uploaded my kid’s MidYear report on the 23rd and that night everyone (including UT) but one school had downloaded it, even ones (like UT) that say it is optional. I couldn’t believe how fast it was done, because I had heard from lots of homeschool moms that only the ones who ā€œrequired itā€ would download. Oh, and the Counselor Letter comes from the Counselor’s portal entry to Common App. It is not something the student can load, I don’t think, because it’s already there. I could be wrong about that, of course.

Very helpful. Thanks.
