UT Austin Class of 2030 Official Thread

Any portal astrology changes for anyone?

Someone post on Reddit, does this work for everyone?
https://utdirect.utexas.edu/utapps/uhd/services/dining/get/

I am enrolled in that GET dining to go thing according to the screen and my account is for an alumni who never lived on campus or had a dining plan there. Probably nothing. It looks like it is part of the housing and dining portal but that opens up for everyone who applied and had their transcript processed.

DD was accepted on Jan 15’th and we had paid the housing deposit of 100$ back in October . She is waiting on some other acceptances . Can she go ahead and commit and pay the 200$ enrollment and 300$ housing contract if there is a probability she might decide to go somewhere else based on her decisions she is waiting on . Can she commit to other college after committing here . We are new to this process and no clue on the next steps

Your place in line with the $100 application payment date wont change if you delay a few rounds of contracts to decide. The first round should go out 2/15 like last cycle per the UTH website. But that’s a Sunday so it will be 2/16. The next round will be 3/1, then 3/15, etc. as time goes on, it would be a risk to delay as no one knows when they will run out of contracts. Once they run out even if you were the very 1st person to pay the $100 UT Housing fee which would give you 1st selection, you wouldnt get none since you would have to signed contract.

Here are the choices…hope it helps you decide.

  1. Pay the enrollment $200 (pretty sure this is nonrefundable), get offered a contract in one of the waves. If they send out say 500 contracts in the first wave, they send them to the 1st 500 people on the list who applied($100paid) and enrolled($200paid). If you were really late paying the $100…they might not get to you in the 1st wave. Then you get your contract, students signs & parent too if a minor (all online), pay the $300 housing prepayment and you are set. You can de-commit. The contract says people can cancel in writing by May 1st and the $300 is liquidated damages unless they prove they attended a different college. If you did this option, you would be out the $100 and the $200, but not the $300.
  2. Delay a wave of two (usually pretty safe they get to a round on 4/1…but no guarantees). This way if you decide to go elsewhere, you are out the $100 but never paid the $200 or $300.
Even if you delay enrolling to then be offered a contract on say 4/1, your place for selection is still be the date you paid the $100 application fee…so it has no impact. You just have to make sure you dont delay so long, they run out of contracts. And only UT Housing knows how many are left at any given time.

This is last year’s dorm contract cancellation section. You might call too about the refund-ability of the $200 enrollment fee. It does go as a credit on the tuition bill in the Fall. I am just not sure they refund it. If they do, you wouldnt ever be out any more than the $100 nonrefundable housing application. And there are plenty of people who enrolled and then de-committed last cycle - especially after Duke opened their waitlist up super late last year and had a cascading effect of people hopping around.

Does UT Austin announce waitlist for all colleges and in-state & OOS applicants? Is that today as well?

If applicant had a secondary major listed, is today’s results applies to that major as well?

does UT Austin gives results to both first and secondary? I haven’t seen any unviersity doing it.

They don’t waitlist, only deny, accept and alternate pathway like CAP for in-state students. (Though someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that last year you could put yourself on a waitlist.)

As far as second choice majors go, unless you are auto admit it is very very very rare to have an offer of a second choice given.

They also seem to care a lot about students if they are consistent and particular about when to release the results. Around 4 to 6 pm means students are surrounded by family and friends. So, it sounds good to me.

Says if you want to be considered for a different major, you can get on a waitlist. So this could be for the second choice major or would that review have been already completed with today’s result?

Good to know that waitlist is not announced by them, applicant can get on one if need be.

how about those who were rejected but like to be considered for different major? How to join waiting list?
