UT Austin class of c/o 2022 admissions

Appeal Rejected :frowning: Done with the UT Austin college process.

Question: those students who were accepted - has the financial aid posted yet? It still says I have to wait two weeks and it said that when I got my acceptance on Feb 14.

My son was accepted in the first wave back in the Fall, and he does not have any informaiton posted on his financial aid page.

Financial Aid will be posted end of March. I’d start looking mid week of March 19 through March 30.

I spoke to a UT financial aid officer who said that they will be releasing financial aid packets the week of March 26.

Is the orientation fee refundable?

Yes, with a $25 refund fee. It is refundable as long as you cancel within more than 10 days before orientation date. @magicalturtle

@Blazchkowski123 when did you originally submit appeal? I’m trying to see how long it’s taking. My son appealed on 2/9 (4 weeks ago) and still has not heard.

Appeal was accepted!!! In state, non auto, got my major of choice too!

What was the compelling reason for appeal…

Does accepting admission offer first lower anyway your chances of getting better financial aid package?

Let’s say that I have 23 credits while orientation but after summer I have 30 credits, how do I inform UT that I am now a sophomore?

is there a class of 22 groupme or snapchat group?

@bros20000 Petition for placement puts you in a higher level of a subject versus petition for credit gives you credit for the lower section. Haven’t ever seen a situation where you would take the placement versus the credit. You should wait until orientation to talk to Your advisor before doing anything. There is no benefit at all to accepting credit before orientation. Everyone at your orientation will register at the exact same time. You’ll need to accept credit for calculus 1 before the drop date of Calc 2 but that will be early September. Once you accept credit you can’t undo it. You may find out at orientation that your advisor recommends you retake a certain class- physics and calculus are good examples of this for engineering.

In answer to your second post, if you are talking about AP, you do not have credit until UT grants it to you. They do not do that until after the first week or so of classes in the fall. If you are talking about transfer credit, send your transcripts in as soon as they are ready. You don’t have to tell them you are a sophomore but it will not matter for anything until registration for spring anyway.

Prior to spring registration, you will need to make sure you have accepted whatever credit you want to accept and then run a degree audit (online and you will learn how to do this at orientation). That will measure your progress to degree (credits that don’t count towards your degree plan should not be accepted). Your registration access time will be determined based on progress to degree.

That being said, some people do not accept their credits all at once. If you have a bad semester and need to get your GPA up you may want to take a class you could have accepted credit for. There are also a few (very few) elective classes that are for people with less than a certain number of hours.

UT Austin doesn’t do placement, only does credit-by-exam.

@gettingschooled thank you so much!

Wonder how hard it is to change from economics to a major in McCombs in the first year or second year.
Any idea? Thanks.

@maplefall it’s pretty tough and you need around a 3.9 gpa to internally transfer into Mccombs

very similar query, how easy/hard to move from natural scinece to engineering school?
