Has anyone received BHP rejections yet?
@illdad OMG ROSS!!! Amazing school! Michigan is just the whole package! The campus is not to be compared. Sorry but UT is a city school and has some city issues… I’ve seen homeless people in the library.,not enough blue lights and some safety concerns…especially when it came to my daughter, but Michigan … if you get into Ross YOU GO!!! That is awesome!! My son didn’t want to go so far away I wish he would have applied. My daughter applied 3 years ago and got in but not to Ross so didn’t go. I was told by everyone I knew if you don’t get into Ross don’t go because it will be almost impossible later and it’s heart breaking to wind up an econ major. Anyway – Congrats and good luck!!
where did you see a message about March 1st? We didn’t get that message either. Hmmm
I’m thinking maybe BHP didn’t reject anyone today. My daughter applied to McCombs and instead got into her 2nd choice Psychology. Her status for BHP updated today to say they are still reviewing and will let her know by March 1… weird.
@illdad Agree that Ross is amazing and it’s a tough call especially vs BHP, however, one big difference between the two is that at Ross you can only get your degree in Business Administration, vs BHP you can specialize. This was a turnoff for my daughter who decided to apply and was accepted to Michigan but for Engineering instead because of the Ross turn off, and at UT-McCombs and is going the McCombs route as opposed to Michigan. If your daughter wants to stay in the Midwest however, Michigan may be the way to go, although I know plenty of McCombs/BHP grads that have no issue getting jobs in the Midwest or NY.
Like Texas, Michigan has an amazing alumni network, although many do say they feel the school is overrated. Texas has some issues with the homeless, Michigan has some issues as well with the recent BDS stuff going on and professors refusing to give kids recommendations and the school not doing much to support those students. Michigan has an accepted student day soon, your daughter should definitely attend, as well as go back to Texas as well as talk to alumni again. It’s not a horrible choice to have to make!! Congrats!!

@2TXkids No offense, but don’t you have to be in McCombs to be in BHP so doesn’t that mean she is probably rejected from BHP and the left just doesn’t know what the right is doing in her case?
I have heard that BHP is separate from McCombs for decisions, so perhaps they just didn’t have word yet that she was rejected from McCombs, but it’s almost cruel to send a tease email like that. 
I got into Ross today and got the March 1 message, does that mean I was deferred from BHP? Would be very upset if that were the case
@srparent15 oh i’m sure she’s rejected and she’s definitely ok being in Psychology… but if she’s not into McCombs they should have rejected her from BHP instead of updating today to say they are still reviewing. She’s fine but to some that would give a huge false hope.
Does finishing the application by 11/6 qualify for a priority decision? I was under the impression that there was a grace period for honors applications, as I submitted my UT application on November 1st. I was interviewed for BHP late November & accepted to McCombs early December (OOS), but I have yet to receive a BHP decision. Also, my portal has continued to say “we are reviewing your application,” so is this indicative of a rejection?
Thanks for the Ross vs BHP advice. We are visiting both in the next 1-2 months. Still waiting for a couple of other schools. It will be a hard chioce
Yes, it still says in review until you click on details. The drop down box is where the note is about waiting till possibly March 1.
@2TXkids Agree, it has to be frustrating. Again, it sounds like one of those left doesn’t know what the right is doing. My OOS daughter was accepted into McCombs in early December, which we thought was a great sign for BHP, but she never received an interview and today received the deferral email. She is pretty sure she is most likely going to be rejected come March 1, but she’s perfectly content with McCombs and has already committed to UT. Personally, I don’t think anyone should be interviewed for BHP until they’ve been accepted to McCombs at all. We had a kid in our school last year have a BHP interview and then not even get into UT at all. Talk about false hope!
@srparent congrats on McCombs to your daughter! My daughter is definitely a better fit for psychology, and I guess UT could see that too. I agree on BHP Interviews. Someone today also posted they had an interview then got denied from UT. Crazy and so competitive. I feel bad for these kids.
@Texasmom71 it says “Your application to Business Honors was completed on 11/06/2018 and is currently in review.” It does not mention waiting until March 1.
Son admitted into Notre Dame Biz school yesterday any insights ( aside from the $$$) vs. UT ?, he is admitted into McCombs ( waiting on BHP)…
@Texasmom71 even after the drop down menu it still doesn’t say anything about March. Just has all the items checked off. No news since the interview.
When you land on application status, there is a tab across the top that says honors, click on that and then click on the word honors ( should say under review) to display the longer message
