@holtym yea, i talked to another person and they told me the same.
@tcho07 so your gpa is a 3.719, not a 3.19?
@holtym yea lol i guess i forgot to put the .7
Hi guys, I was wondering if my stats are any good. I currently have a 3.4 gpa, but I’m repeating two classes that I recieved Cs in so by the end of the summer, I will have a 3.8 for hcc, but a 3.6 for ut because when I talked to them they told me they will average out the two grades as opposed to taking the better grade like hcc. I want to apply for the least competitive major possible.
@texasboy12 Dual credit classes during high school offered by community colleges do show up on your transcript. They are also counted toward the credit hour requirement and GPA calculations. I had the same problem with a B and C I got doing dual credit my senior year of high school. I’d opt to make light of it and address your grades with your essays if you want to.
@Starssss A GPA above a 3.75 is a relatively safe bet for noncompetitive majors. Noncompetitive majors are usually in the Education, Social Work, and Liberal Arts colleges. Some COLA majors will be way more competitive than the others. It is worth noting that UT has made significant moves against the process of externally transferring into an easy major and then switching (as was doable a few years ago) to the harder major a student would want before registration even ended. If you’re attempting to make your way into a CNS, Business, or Engineering major you should know that while internal transfers usually have it a tiny bit easier, you’d still need top tier grades and other admissions requirements.
@AEtransfer A 3.8 might be considered a little on the lower side for Engineering, but even if you have a few ECs and good essay material you shouldn’t hold back from applying. Spring transfers help the university deal with open spots from students switching majors or opting to not return that semester, so you might strike it lucky and apply for a major that a lot of current students are switching out from this cycle.
Hi! I’m applying to UT for Spring 2020, never applied before. Here’s my info:
- Sophomore at ACC, 45 hours (will have 60 at the end of Fall)
- Applying to CoLA, Urban Studies
- GPA 3.87, all A’s except two B’s from high school dual credit
- Honors Student and Ambassador. Gonna try to join PTK this semester.
- Not many EC’s at ACC but highly involved in off-campus housing cooperative organization and have held several officer positions there
- Studied abroad (idk if that helps at all)
- 3 Essays
- 3 LOR
- I have a lot of W’s (9) from my first three semesters (2016-2017) due to extenuating circumstances (mental illness now under control). I went back to school last summer and I’ve gotten straight A’s since and honors. I’ve replaced 5 W’s. Explained in my A essay.
Any advice, tips, predictions, judgments, etc. for my chances of getting in? Do you think all my W’s will downplay my successes? Thanks.
Hey friends! I’m an incoming freshman at the University of Texas at San Antonio. I was capped my senior year of high school and was advised by the admissions office at UT not to enroll in the CAP program due to my increasing number of dual credit hours. Instead, I will be applying as an undergraduate transfer student for Spring 2020. Here are my stats:
- 27 college credit hours
- 4.0 cumulative GPA
- Applying to COLA, Government
- HS resume stacked with clubs/leadership positions (9th grade Student Council president, 10th grade FBLA president, 11th grade FBLA historian, 11th grade Debate captain and treasurer, and 12th grade Model UN public relations executive)
- 3 essays
- 3 LOR (I plan on getting them from my professors in the Fall)
I am in the same boat as you - 27 hours at 4.0 applying to COLA. I am having a hard time finding out how many transfers they will take?? ;
@120115 What are you trying to major in? I would recommend calling the admissions office and seeing if they’ll give you a rough estimate on the number of transfers they’re accepting this spring.
they will not tell me how many transfers they will take for spring-
Apparently, it is a lot easier to be admitted for spring transfer.
Hey everyone, I am also applying for spring 2020 transfer admission as a Public Health or Human Ecology major. Some stats:
-3.65 cumulative GPA 3.93 major specific GPA 68 hours (4 year university in Michigan)
-Executive board in an on campus club
-Some volunteer work
-Division I ice hockey
-National Honors Society
-Good essay’s, one is very good
-2 LOR
-1 internship, 2 shadows/internships in the OR and a clinic
Kind of worried because I do not have all of the pre req’s completed, purely because they are simply not required at my current school, but in one of my essays I acknowledge I do not have them complete, but I have no problem taking them if accepted.
Hello everyone. I am currently applying for spring 2020 and I also applied last year to spring 2019 and was accepted, but I ended it up turning it down and I realized how big of a mistake the was and now I am applying again. I currently have 47 hours and my gpa is around a 3.5. I am applying for the College of Education. If anybody have and has any advice or anything comment at all that could helpful during this stressful time, i would appreciate it.
I could use some insight if anyone happens to have some! am at UTD right now and redeemed my AP credits, amounting to 24 credit hours. Do those count as the 24 required credit hours for UT? I am a Freshman so I don’t have any college classes complete yet, but I will have 16 done by the end of the semester. Does that mean I should just submit my transcript with the 24 now? Or wait until the other classes go on my transcript?
Hey guys, Im trying to transfer to UT in the spring to CNS as a bio major. I currently have a 4.0 at UTA but got a B in a community college for calculus. I have 2 LOR, my resume is decent and my essays were decent. What do you think my chances are? I wrote my essays and resume to fit the UT core values and mission.
I’m excited for this years Transfer’s. After going through the past transfer page I found out that the spring semesters much easier to get into.
Is it me or does it seem like there aren’t a lot of people applying to transfer this spring? Hopefully this means better chances for us
I just submitted my Apply Texas application and they said it’ll take 2 business days for UT to receive the application. Even though I have my UT EID from when I applied in high school, I cannot access the document upload system to submit my resume. Will I be able to make it in before the deadline? The transfer website said that UT extends the deadline for “receipt of supporting credentials” beyond the application deadline.
