UVA early action in-state: chances? Is admissions based primarily on objective factors??

Hello! So I applied to UVA early action for the class of 2020. Its not my top choice, but I would still be excited/ honored to attend.

I was wondering though about the admissions process. While UVA advertises that it is “holistic” in approach, would it be fair to say that it is pretty much based on objective stats? I have a 34 ACT (36 essay), 4.5 GPA (salutatorian), various awards, and above par ECs (a TON of leadership). I personally really liked my essays, but I can definitely admit that they were a bit rushed.

Do you all think that I have a pretty solid shot of getting in? My school has a very strong relationship with UVA, as most people in the top 10% of the class end up attending. I am still just worried about the whole thing, since I applied to VT as my safety but really, really don’t want to attend.

We don’t lie. We have a holistic process. Keep in mind that GPA is not standardized and not an objective factor.

No one can guess about your admission decision with the small amount of information provided, not even me. There’s a reason you have to submit a good amount of information and it takes a while to arrive at a decision. This is a complex process!

@“Dean J” Thank you so much for your answer!! I guess I am just worried about the whole process, but I do trust that you all have a holistic approach to admissions. Im very excited to find out my decision in January, and thank you for taking the time to respond to me (an overly anxious senior) on CC
