UVA Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

@plsplspls I would be a rising sophomore, but I’ve already been told they could play a major role. I just want to know if I still have a real chance

@canucksfangirl I’m feeling the same way, but I know that I am more qualified than a lot of people. They just don’t post their info online! But I know they are out there!! (hopefully lol)

Honestly, being a sophomore, I don’t think it will hurt you that much, it really depends on your amount of credits. How many do you have and what’s your college/hs gpa?

Is it much harder to transfer as a junior?

@puncherkid 100x easier

@plsplspls Why is that? A LOT of universities have way less space for students transferring as juniors.

@plsplspls I’ll have 29 at the end of the semester, and I had a 4.0 first semester, I’m on track to get the same this semester. I had a 3.49 in high school…it wasn’t that great, that’s why I’m worried

@puncherkid you’re right, but I’ve always been told it’s a numbers game, in the sense that, a student who has all their credentials to start their major is more likely to succeed than a sophomore transferring in who has their credits all over the place.

@plsplspls I see. But I’m an international student, which means that a lot of courses I’ve learned could be non-transferable.

@canucksfangirl lol a 3.5? I had barely a 2 in hs. They will see your grades in hs and compare them to your grades in college, yes. You have an upward trend going for you so I really would stay positive and just make sure you finish strong!

@puncherkid , well remember it’s not always all about grades, UVA is pretty holistic no matter what people say. I just hope you didn’t apply to McIntire

Alsoo, most schools have an international quota as well, I’m sure your experiences are pretty rare to UVA, so stay strong!

got the check mark…

@enlighter2014 welcome to the salty UVA transfer thread, how tough are yah?

@plsplspls were you asking for my stats…? sorry I didn’t really understand the question

@enlighter2014 it was a spongebob reference haha :-"

but sure, go ahead tell us what school you’re applying to, what major, and what year!

Cool. Everyone please chance me if you don’t mind.

international student, freshman
current university: top 40 public university

Thanks a lot

For me, I apply for media studies and sociology. Since there’re a minimal number of seats in media studies, I wish that I could be accepted as a sociology major.

@plsplspls Is McIntire harder to transfer into? is there any objective evidence of that?

@Lionstransfer3 http://avillage.web.virginia.edu/iaas/instreports/studat/dd/adm_transfer.htm

Just our of curiosity who here on this thread is applying to McIntire?
