I’m probably going to go insane before Friday ~X(
@samiam95 you’re not the only one :-??
I just got a check mark!
@April16 what is the first letter of your last name?
@plsplspls “T”!
I just got mine too… feiuwahiueghawiehfiuwahifuhawfeihiawhfviewh fiuvhfiuafhiuhfwavi aefafvweafa gaahhhhh
I just got a check mark too!
I applied to the College of Arts and Sciences! Which I know is easier to get into, but I’m still worried
@canucksfangirl hopefully you have better luck than the Canucks =((
@plsplspls I haven’t followed them this season! Too focused on school, but good one haha. But do you think I still have a good chance? I only had a 21 on my ACT, but I had two excellent recommendations and my resume was jam packed
@canucksfangirl they made it to the first round of playoffs and almost came back to force a game 7 but in game 6 they got blown out 4-7 against Calgary. But don’t worry I’m a penguins fan and we didn’t do so hot in the playoffs lol.
Act/sat don’t matter the longer you are in college and also it depends on when you took your act.
Going off what you say, you have a perfect college record so far and good hs grades! What’s left is your extracurriculars and essays which you’ve done well apparently. So the only thing I can think of holding you back is if you are instate or out of state.
I’m a freshman, and I go to a large in-state school. I have a 3.5 from the first semester and my SAT scores are also pretty average for UVA applicants. I am in an honors program and I took 3 hard honors classes last semester (there is some grade deflation going on) I think my essays were pretty good and I have a good recommendation. I have a lot of extracurriculars and awards from high school, and a few extracurriculars from college. I’m just worried I don’t have enough involvement and awards from college yet. But I applied during my first semester so I can’t help it!
I see myself as a pretty average applicant (or I just have no confidence) so I can see the admission decision going both ways. :(( But I am soooo nervous!!!
@hoospls in state or out of state and what school/major
Also I have read that most schools don’t consider getting okay grades in honors classes, no matter deflation. They would rather pick an applicant that aced general classes than got a C in the honors class.
I’m not trying to single you out, but many people here think reviewers will be sympathetic to their deflation and use it as a crutch for their low GPA (not saying you are because idk your grades) but if this is true, then you should have written about your deflation in the additional comments section of your application.
@plsplspls oh shoot, I’m in state and I’m applying to the school of arts and sciences as a Biology Major.
@hoospls I think you have a legitimate chance if you are applying to A&S. Stay confident.
Yea do B+'s and A-'s ( I did not get any C’s) count as grade deflation? lol @plsplspls it was also my first semester at college so it took some getting used to! I am planning on getting straight A’s this semester. But they don’t see that until after admission decisions are out
Hi guys! I applied to UVA’s College of Arts and Science as an English major. I’m an in-state student and currently at VT in the Honors College. I’m a freshman so applying to enter in my sophomore year; my first semester I took 6 classes/15 credits and got a 3.42. 2 B-'s in my math and philosophy classes, and the rest were As in my enviro/english classes. This semester, I’m taking 6 classes/18 credits and have all As, which is shown on my midterm report. I have a composite score of 31 on the ACT, a 3.8 in HS, and have a good amount of ECs. I think my essays were good, but I have nothing to compare them to so I can’t say if they were anything above average. The only school I applied to was UVA because I have to stay in-state and it’s the only other school I want to attend for my major. I know they don’t count “demonstrated interest” but even my common app essay makes it explicit that I only applied to UVA, so I think that would set it apart a tiny bit maybe? I have no idea haha! I got one recommendation from one of my English professors and it was glowing. My first semester GPA was low and that’s what is so concerning to me…do you think I still have a shot?
I’ve been stalking this forum without posting for a while and I think you all (everyone who has been active recently) have a great shot!! I can’t wait until Friday and I’m hoping for the best for everyone!
