UVA Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

@uvahopeful101 oh yeah that’s what I meant! Majority of people here are A&S applicants but their grades are so good they could of applied to McIntire if they wanted.

@plsplspls we’re instate so that’s a huge advantage and you’re GAA so you’re a shoe in to get accepted. If I were you I would be relaxing and sleeping all day

@uvahopeful101 haha I am not a GAA just confident I have a chance. I will see you on the other side, I have a good feeling (:

OK i just woke up… its 5 55 and it seems like I’ve missed out

Anyone check to see if decisions are out?

I did! @uvahopeful101 They are not

Just called, the admission office told me usually the decisions will be out around 3. 5pm will be the latest.

I miss so much when I sleep X_X

hey guys just want to say i’ve been reading the entire time but didn’t want to jump in because you all seem so qualified and i was nervous! but you also seem nice so I wanted to say hello and good luck

Y’all UVAwannabe are so qualified and deserving, I think the only way that’s fair for everyone is through a lottery system with a cutoff at say 3.2 GPA. Game?

@quanfo Unfortunately, UVa does this holistic thing so that won’t work so well

How’s everyone passing time until 3-5 pm? I’m already home for the summer so I have nothing to do

@LaVolpe sure, as so they can stay relevant. How would one pick one out of 5 perfect apples? smell, touch, feel, color, weight? I would take the closest one within reach. One can believe in whatever he’s told. I ain’t buy that holistic thing without seeing it with my own eyes in front of me  Good luck, folks … regardless!

The thing is that they can’t do a certain gpa cut off because a 3.2 at one school is not the same as a 3.2 at another school. Like a 3.2 from radford doesn’t hold the same value as a 3.2 from lets say UCLA or Berkeley. It’s all relative and uva has to take that into consideration that’s why there’s such a huge range of acceptances from kids with gpas as low as 2.5 to kids with 4.0s. Also, remember wealth and legacy plays a huge role, as well as being a minority and poverty. It’s all a game of who they want to spend resources on.

Does being a legacy really matter? @uvahopeful101

@hlplsslyhopn yeah, my friend’s dad is an alum and he has a friend on the admission board and he said that legacies get an advantage and they’re criticized easier

@uvahopeful101 Still not even 1/10 as relevant as it is at some schools.

Good news for me!

@LaVolpe yeah of course but it gives them a leg up. It’s not relevant at ivies and private schools who have very wealthy alum, not that uva isn’t a wealthy school

@uvahopeful101 Family members that donate or fund things have more weight in my anecdotal opinion. Legacies are a dime a dozen at a school like UVa, but ones that donate are far more rare (and valuable to a school).
