Bro not to put you down or anything by any means and I’m not entirely sure but I don’t think UVA takes students from four year universities that have more than 60 credits.
@uvafall2019oof No worries, thanks for the info! I explained in the additional information section that since I will be graduating in 2021 regardless of school the school I attend, I wouldn’t really be taking any hit credit-wise if I had to lose any.
are your transfer applications linked to your SIS? I took a summer class at UVA so I have a SIS account because of that, but when I log in there’s no link to my application or anything so the only way I can see it is through the actual application portal.
@WatchYouWant You’re definitely a shoe in. Let us hope we both get in! Your background is perfect for comm school and I know for a fact UVA is one of the extremely holistic schools when reviewing applications. With strong LOR’s I would stress too much.
@uvafall2019oof Not true at all. All UVA says is that they will accept at maximum 60 credits, because you have to take 60 credits once you get to UVA to graduate. I’ve seen people with 70+ credits get in and just lose out on everything beyond 60.
Hey guys, I’m a 3rd year at UVA that got in as a transfer last cycle. Just thought I’d share some insight because the transfer blogs from previous years and CC threads helped me a lot.
- "Inquiry Access Denied" Last year this was 100% an indicator from what I witnessed on the threads. My GF at the time had that and she got in on the first round of transfer acceptances (the big day). I didn't get this change in my financial aid (inquiry access denied) and was waitlisted. It's been a common theme for the past couple years but none of the deans acknowledge it. This leads me to believe they're aware of the loophole but that also means that it might not be an indicator anymore because they've fixed it or made it irrelevant (idk). Or we're all just reaching because we are/were anxious.
- @WatchYouWant @uvafall2019oof @ivylevered I applied to UVA as a transfer student with my associate's degree and 79 credits completed. I got in, they just capped my transferable credits at 60. Considering @WatchYouWant is at a 5 year school (co-op?) he doesn't have to worry about that.
- I got into UVA with a 3.452 GPA from a CC. I had 5 W's on my transcript and even one F (huge upward trend though, last three semesters at CC were 3.67-4.00 GPA avg). My LOR's were strong, essay was genuine, and I had a lot of relevant EC's/work experience. I love UVA adcom because they look far beyond just the numbers. Don't worry if you don't have a perfect GPA for McIntire or if you had a couple W's and applied to a quantitative major. This seems like a very strong transfer class, so good luck guys!
@msport So you got off the waitlist? Even though I think my “inquiry access denied” is an auspicious sign, I was wondering when they let off the waitlist.
@broobro I got off the waitlist a month after transfers got in. It was the most edgy month of my life.
I got into some similarly competitive schools and sent my admission letters to UVA as well as mid-semester grades from the summer classes I was taking. Not many were taken off the waitlist. I’ve read somewhere about 10% get off but by no means am claiming that as a fact I don’t even remember the source
Guys relax, even if you don’t have inquiry access denied thingy, there is still a whole month to go. Don’t overthink it, plus if you did not apply for Fin. aid it wouldn’t even be there.
@msport Do you find UVA much harder than CC?
Hi I’ve seen some of your previous posts and I am a NVCC student applying to McIntire as well! I don’t know if there’s a way to message each other, but I was hoping to get some information about the whole transfer process and an idea of where you’re at!
@uvaapplic42 Absolutely. Anything you do at any CC is a cakewalk in comparison to what you will experience at UVA.
Learning and being independent is a huge focus here, it’s very much so an academic school and that’s why I love it.
You’ll get what you put into your studying! It’s nothing like UChicago with insane grade deflation or anything. I’d say the curves here are fair, maybe slightly difficult in some areas like math and economics–but that is so you take the material seriously and actually learn it.
@msport is there any way i could message or email you? I have some questions and would greatly appreciate it as you have gone through this process. Thank you
@uvafall2019oof when you click on my profile there should be a message option!
@msport either im really dumb or i can’t see it lol, do you think you could send me a message?
@uvafall2019oof You have to be a junior member on here to be able to private message. That’s when you get to 15 posts. I believe that policy is in place to prevent spam accounts from becoming rampant on here.
Does everyone have a view decision tab? Do I just not have one
On SIS or Application Portal?
@l2kids Either one
On either I guess… I have nothing
I don’t have anything either on the portal or SIS
Does anyone anything different for the financial aid tab. Also are we still going on if we have “inquiry access denied” that we got in or is that not valid anymore?
