Has anyone who applied for financial aid very close to the April 1st deadline got an “inquiry access denied”? I submitted FAFSA the day before it was due so I’m wondering if they’ve processed it yet?
To everyone referring to “CAS prereqs” or requirements, what exactly are those?

In state sophomore transfer applying to CAS
GPA: 3.8? (hard to say bc I got some old bad grades wiped with academic renewal and I’m not sure if UVA counts that or not. Might be like 3.6 or 3.7 if not). Strong upward trend. 4.0 midterm report
69 credits
All CAS prereqs met, missing one recommended class for my major bc my school doesn’t offer it
HS dropout, addressed this in my essays, not sure if I did a good job. Essays maybe 7/10

College EC’s: Hall Council President, Undergraduate Researcher
HS EC’s: Lacrosse Team Captain (Academic All-American), Marching Band Drum Major, Independent Researcher
Essays: were considerably more personable and about my life than my first-year application essays, unsure if this is a good or bad thing but it’s more coming from my heart than from my brain, if that makes sense.
SAT: 1480 ACT: 34
Medical Assistant at Doctor’s Office, along with Receptionist at Optometrist’s Office

Let me know what you guys think! I’m super nervous… UVA’s been my dream school since I could literally walk…
@cocteautwins @busybee1234, You guys are both very strong applicants. I would be surprised if you guys didn’t get in. Makes me feel like the financial aid info is not reputable.
Busy bee, I think you are an excellent candidate. Of course I can’t know for certain, but you seem very competitive.
VA resident, would be transferring in from an out of state college - Applying as 2nd year

Mathematics Major (also pre-med)
My mom is also an alum of UVA
Applied as a freshman but got waitlisted and eventually denied. I think what will hold me back is not having all the pre-reqs for CAS (I have just over half)
Shoutout to @busybee1234 for the template - I hope you don’t mind that I copied over yours lol
@raenbougg really curious what you think of my chances…
Highschool: 3.6 unweighted. Sat: 1980 and 1380 Act: 29… Boatload extracurricular: started club and raised over 6,000 in first year for veterans, 4 year varsity athlete, key club transurer, a bunch more that show leadership and community service. However, grades were not top priority due to football and my goal to play in college.
College: UNCW
3.85 GPA(Should be well over a 3.9 but I got a B- in a class where the professor got sick and gave one test at the end)
Over 60 credits
In a good amount of clubs and have done habitat for humanity and have leader Roles in some clubs.
Deans list should be every semester.
I am pretty involved, but I only applied to one college out of high school and it was a reach, but that is a long story and stuff went bad. However, in college I performed pretty incredibly and still am involved. I know UNCW is not known as a great academic school. I was just wondering if someone’s could weigh in on my chances. My sister also graduated from the Law school of UVA and was top 5 in her class.
Essays: 10/10
Rec: should be good
Out of State
Coming in as a 3rd Year if admitted
Taking my missing foreign language over the summer
Wondering what anyone thinks of my chances? Be harsh if you want to!
Be really harsh if you want I can take the heat lol!
@transfer1212 Looks good to me, as long as they know you’re taking the foreign language over the summer. You are out of state so that adds competition. Do you have inquiry access denied?
did not apply for financial aid
How are my chances looking?

3.1 gpa in high school but I had a lot of stuff going on out of my control
Question for you guys. My kid applied for a transfer as a fall sophomore applicant. I was reading the posts and realized she probably applied without having all the prerequisites. How should she handle? I believe she is missing the math/science requirement but is applying as an English major. She is a freshman at a top 20 LAC. GPA fall 4.0 and Midterm 4.0.
@dreamcatcher3 since she’s only one year into college, I don’t think UVA expects her to have the prereqs completely finished. Since most transfer admits are entering third years, I think the prereq requirements are more for them. She should have a very good shot with those grades.
