UVA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

I didn’t include anything from HS either and I feel like I should have.

They said they look at High School stuff if you are applying while in your first year at another college, but not so much if you are applying as a sophomore.

My current school uses SIS for financial aid. Never applied for aid there and it says no financial aid found. I didn’t apply for aid at UVA and it says the same on their SIS. I think we are all overthinking it lol. So don’t worry if you didn’t apply for aid

Is anyone else having trouble contacting the admissions office via phone? I have a question about my application and was waiting for about 10 minutes on two separate occasions before I gave up.

I applied for financial aid and it says “no financial aid found” so im confused

Honestly at this point we can’t do anything but wait.

If you think the speculation is true, remember that if you don’t have “inquiry access denied” then you may have just been put on the waitlist which, in transfer admissions, you have a good chance of being pulled off if you do well this semester. I highly doubt that this means anything for people that didn’t apply for financial aid, but for those that did it might be true according to last years thread. Don’t sweat it guys in a week we’ll know everything for sure!

I think that no matter what happens, everything will be fine. When I got rejected last year, it wasn’t the end for me… if you’re a VA college student and want to attend UVA no matter what in the end, definitely take advantage of the GAA with community colleges. Most likely a lot of your credits will transfer over.

I would say 3/4 of my credits from 1st year transferred to a general studies degree at CC, but i took summer classes and maximum fall/spring courses and am graduating with my associates this spring. It is an amazing thing to take part of and just know that your path to UVA doesn’t have to be over even if you don’t get the decision you want this time around.

Don’t worry because there are so many options open for you.

Also, all of the advisors I have spoken to at CC are very knowledgable and speak to a lot of students transferring their credits from their 4 year colleges into the program

@gnpy123 I get that but my parents wouldn’t let me leave VT just for a chance to get into UVa when there’s no guarantee. As it stands now, I only have one chance or I’m stuck at tech in a major I never wanted in the first place.

@Rjlake33 You don’t have to do what your parents want you to do

@limitdoesnotexist1 well when they are the ones paying my way through college, I don’t have much of a choice in the matter lol.

@limitdoesnotexist1 yeah it’s not that simple tbh. Plus I wouldn’t advise for people to leave a 4-year like tech to go to CC for guaranteed admission to UVA. VT gives hella opportunity for internships and extracurriculars that you wouldn’t be able to get at a CC. Worst case, just hold it out another semester at VT and try again for Spring 2020, then if you’re still committed, go for it for fall 2020 also. You’re bound to get in eventually. But hopefully we will all get in this time and see each other at the transfer orientation; everyone here has great stats and backgrounds that are competitive for admissions (unless your applying for a mcintire, 50% of that is luck tbh)

That’s an unfortunate situation. I’m not from VA so I don’t know much about tech. Hopefully all will work out with getting to UVA. There is always a chance at grad school as well if undergrad doesn’t work out at UVA. (If you’re planning to go to grad school, that is)

@ndcuva I was told by admissions high school experiences/grades are essentially irrelevant if you are currently a second year. Don’t stress yourself.

If you are applying as a 3rd year, I assure you there is little to no consideration of your EC’s in HS (which are notorious for being over exaggerated/inflated). You’ve had two years to get involved at your college…

What about for incoming second years?

Does anyone else (that has inquiry access denied) have it listed for both 2020 and 2019? Is there any reason some people only have 2020? I did not apply to UVA last year.

@hopefulboy37 dunno, don’t have it. Also wouldn’t worry about it, you prolly got accepted. Just wait until the 26th and I believe that all of that will become clear. Good luck!

haha inquiry access denied in past years has meant accepted and waitlisted, not just accepted. and with UVA’s reputation with waitlists… that might as well be an instant rejection

@hopefulyboy37 I haven’t seen anyone who has both, but a bunch of people only have it for 2020 including me. Also, I saw one other person has it for 2019.

You have both!? I wonder why everyone’s is different…
