@l2kids I also applied last year, and your sis account for this year is the same as last year’s! I didn’t get a new email either, so I was confused too. If you remember last year’s login, you can just use that and it’ll have the 2019 info, or you can go to https://virginia.service-now.com/its?id=itsweb_kb_article&sys_id=2f47ff87dbf6c744f032f1f51d961967 and click on “Find your computing ID” and then “Retrieve your computing ID” and enter your info and it’ll send you your login.
my sis financial aid does say “inquiry access denied”. but it’s still super early so I’m not gonna take that to mean anything. i also got in last year so that could be it? but it does only say it for the year 2019.
@ellyerin Thank you so much! She might still have her old info bookmarked. If not, she can have them retrieve it. So odd that there would be neither an email nor any mention of the SIS stuff if you “exist” in their system already, especially given the new application portal.
when I click on financial aid it says “there is no financial aid information found.” I don’t see inquiry access denied, is that a bad sign? I also didn’t request financial aid though but I’m confused
No I’ve had a few B’s as well, not that perfect haha. Upward trend for sure. I’ve had a pretty credible job at a bank as an “EC” so hopefully that helps. My essays were pretty good I thought. So yep now just gotta wait and keep options up regardless if I get in or not. Hope yours goes as planned as well. Thank you!
I also have inquiry access denied.
Last year one of my very good friends applied to transfer to UVA (CAS: Econ) and she got in. She had “Inquiry Access Denied” for the month leading up to her acceptance on her SIS portal when looking at her Financial Aid for the '19 school year.
Some of our friends didn’t have their inquiry access denied were either denied or waitlisted in the first round. It was definitely an indicator last year, and might still be this year; literally everyone who commented last year saying they had “inquiry access denied” got accepted. I’m seeing a lot of parallels this year that have been consistent with the past few years’ threads.
If you didn’t apply for financial aid, where would the “Inquiry Acces Denied” information be?
Also, if anyone applied in state, have you heard yet wether your instate status was approved? Thanks!
@l2kids If you log in to SIS, click on ‘view financial aid’ and then it would say it under ‘aid year description.’ It should show up whether you applied for aid or not (I didn’t either). Also, I’m in-state and I’ve heard back, but it’s probably only because I sent a few pestering emails to the VA status office.
Wow - so much following up to do AFTER the application is complete. There are a lot of holes in their communication, it seems. You don’t happen to have that email address for the VA status office, do you? I’ll forward it to my daughter. Thanks!
Hope this isn’t bad news
“There is no financial aid information found”
@l2kids I know! It would be so easy to miss these things - vastatus@virginia.edu is the office email, but I never received a reply from them (after two emails and weeks apart). When I got really worried, I sent an email to the VA office director Andrea Leeds Armstrong, asl5w@virginia.edu . She replied within an hour. But if you live in VA, you’re probably fine. I was only worried because I qualify based on my dad’s employment, not my residency.
@ellyerin, thanks!
Hey everyone, I thought I should introduce myself. I go to an OOS community college and I applied to the arts and sciences college. I got a 1350 on SAT and 3.83 college GPA. I also applied to W&M, so if I’m accepted to both schools, I’m going to give my spot at UVA to someone on the waitlist. Good luck to everyone!

I have seen stuff regarding financial aid and “inquiry access denied” this year and the past years but is not having it a guarantee of not getting accepted? I did not apply for financial aid either even though I know someone else had the message although they also did not apply for financial aid.
I hope this isn’t too blindly optimistic, but since decisions probably won’t come out until April 26th, it seems unlikely that they’ve already decided everybody who will be accepted by now. Maybe they have, but that’s a long hang time. I think they read applications and discuss them until the end, as they try to build a transfer class. I hope everybody gets good news when its time!
@l2kids I tend to agree with that. I remember most people not seeing it until mid-April while some got it earlier. Also, another thing to consider; why would they recommend mid-term reports if they have made decisions before the last day to submit the report?
Who here is applying for third year from NVCC?
I agree with you @l2kids.
