@alaskanlegend123 complaining about affirmative action above all other factors that could have led to your rejection is a really bad look. Stats show over and over that being from a wealthy family is a far greater advantage (indirectly- eg rich kids have the means to do unpaid internships etc) to college admissions than being a poc but I see far fewer complaints about that.
@cocteautwins To clarify, I never posted anything about affirmative action, that was someone else. I just wish I could understand what part of my application to improve on. Side note- anyone know if some majors are more likely to get off the waitlist?
Accepted CAS Economics!
Anyone else find it strange that UVA only does a course evaluation AFTER receiving final grades? I get my final grades after hearing back from other schools I applied to. I donât like the risk involved in possibly having to start UVA a year behind.
On the waiting list for the School of Engineering and Applied Science (I applied for computer science). I am graduating with a B.S. in biology from George Mason University this spring. My overall GPA is slightly above 3.6.
Did anyone else apply for a second bachelorâs degree from the UVa SEAS? Did anyone get accepted? Waitlisted? I feel as though I am the only one on here who applied for a second bachelor degree from the university.
@IvyBound511 UVA is not the only school that does that. I also got into UCLA and they do the same. They wonât audit your degree until orientation. Another weird thing about UVA is that we donât know what major we got into until orientation either⊠We just know that we have been accepted to the school that we applied, not any particular major.
Hi guys, this might be a dumb question but do you know where you can see what major you are accepted to?
@ndcuva Charlottesville is one of the best college towns in the country, but it really isnât comparable to a city. For example, everything revolves around the campus (which obv doesnât happen at NYU or Penn). Thereâs quite a lot of bars to go to, concerts, and cute shops because of the university, but of course not nearly as much as a major city would have. It is in the south, but Charlottesville is quite liberal and the student body mostly comes from the DC area in northern virginia, so it doesnât really have that southern culture. Overall itâs a very nice area but it also really depends on what youâre looking for!
@alaskanlegend123 itâs okay. apply again next year, if you can and want to. I got rejected from every school I applied to transfer to, including UVA. Never give up.
@cocteautwins yeah, affirmative action benefits white women the most. The reality is schools like to say they have diversity but itâs really mostly rich kids (who tend to be white) benefiting.
ACCEPTED to CAS as an incoming 2nd year⊠Had Inquiry Access Denied. Still in shock.
@transferstdnt99 @Confusedaf98 thanks for giving some input⊠im just debating because I know there are universities that are in the middle of nowhere and if im trying to find internships it will be really hard.
I also applied to Notre Dame and Cornell does anyone have any input on what the location is and how it might compare to UVA (which is better in terms of availability of resources) ? I have no idea how Notre Dameâs location is but I know cornell is in the middle of nowhere
Did anyone accepted to CAS get the Valencia first program email??
@ndcuva Yeah I got that
@ndcuva Yeah I did
Whatâs the Valencia first program?
its just an invitation to basically spend your first semester as a transfer in Valencia Spain. Anyone thinking bout doing it? Just noticed that the deadline to apply is may 1st
I received the email about Valencia. Too bad I am studying Mandarin Chinese and have always struggled with learning Spanish. Itâs pretty sad too since I am latino LOL. I have already been to Spain a few times as well, so I will leave that excitement to others

I have been accepted to UVA but Iâm really worried about credit transfer. The fact that they would only do credit evaluations after I submit my final grades brings too much uncertainty to the table. Thoughts or advice please?
