I emailed mine then uploaded it through the portal as well just to be sure. They replied to my email confirming it has been added to my file.
Iāve been reading through every transfer thread for like the past 5 years and it seems that everyone who had a 4.0 first semester (rising second years) got in (except some cases where high school GPAās were < 3.0)
Iām honestly super anxious about getting in since I was really expecting to get in straight from HS but was waitlisted. A lot of people were surprised and now I feel like itāll happen again as a transfer. Be sure to drop any trends you find from previous year as it might help reassure a lot of people.
Iām not sure what the case will be honestly since it is really mixed results. I earned a 3.5 GPA in high school, a 3.1 cumulative (3.35 major) at my institution for the 2017-2018 year. Then transferred to NVCC where I have held a steady 4.0 GPA. As long as you show consistency you shouldnāt be worried. At least thatās what the academic advisors told me at UVA.
@uvatransfer2019 which email address did you send it to? My daughter uploaded her report on March 15 and emailed it to the āuvaapplicationinfo@virginia.eduā but never heard anything ![]()
I emailed it to them as well, they usually respond. You should try emailing again and asking for confirmation that it has been added to her file. You can also send it to
Adm-adt@virginia.edu they added it to my file but then said to email uvaapplicationinfo next time!
When I attended the transfer session in November at UVA Pierce Coughter, the dean of transfers, told us that āas long as you have As and Bs you will be fine!ā
@raenbougg Was that for guaranteed admissions or any transfer applicant?
Question about Mid-Year reports.
On the UVA website, it has āN/Aā on the mid-year report. So my question is: where does it say that you need to send this? And would this report be referring to the mid-year report found on the Common App?
@jopak123 the mid-year report is not required, but it is recommended as a rising second year since you only have 1 other semester to show for. If you have significantly lower grades second semester than first semester I wouldnāt send it though. And yeah the report is referring to the common app form; I had all my professors sign it, then I scanned and emailed it!
@Vagirl123 He didnāt specifically say which one. Iām gonna guess both because he said the majority of transfer students do not have guaranteed admission. Although, he also said As and Bs are good, but of course applicants should have all or most of the transfer requirements.
Hi everybody!!
I am currently a first year at Virginia Tech in the engineering program. I am planning to transfer to UVA for SEAS Computer Science this fall.
Here are my stats:
College First Sem GPA: 3.55 (from A- in linear algebra, B+ in Calc 1, and B in the intro CS, As in everything else)
HighSchool GPA: 4.22
SAT: 1370 (Math 770, English 600)
Midterm: As in everything but B+ 2000s CS class and B in 3000s math class
I personally think this should be a competitive GPA for a SEAS transfer given my course and schoolās rigor. I also briefly mentioned 2 really cool extracurriculars that Iām in within the essay. How are my chances?
@uvaTransferBoi Howād you take linear algebra with Calc 1? I thought calc 1 was the pre-req and you had to get a B+ in it. Also, Iām applying from VT to UVA for CS as well, but Iām applying for the BA. Is there a reason you prefer the BS?
Edit: B or higher*
@uvatransfer2019 I just added it to my schedule since I had AP credit for Calc 1. Iām also taking calc 2 and 3 this sem at a community college because I had AP credit with the community college (new river).
@uvaTransferBoi So you retook calc 1? Iām assuming you got a 3 on the BC exam which let you take Multi while taking calc 2. I donāt know how itās going to look as a transfer that youāre taking core engineering pre-reqs at CC though; itās kinda a cheap way out.
@uvatransfer2019 to answer your other question, its because I was on course to complete the BS pre-requs and not the BA. Are you in VT engineering as well?
@uvaTransferBoi True. And yeah I am; I have all the pre-reqs for both BA and BS but I just like the flexibility of the BA more. Once you get through CS 2150 youāre pretty much free to take any classes you want until you reach 120 credits.
Dang everyoneās jumping off the VT ship. Iām also applying from tech. I just didnāt know that there were this many of us lol.
Tech has been a great time so far, and regardless of where I graduate, Blacksburg will always have a place in my heart. UVAās just been my dream school literally since I was born, and I donāt want to pass up on an opportunity to attend.
I am doing the Guaranteed Admission Agreement and I also got āInquiry access deniedā in financial aid. No changes in my UVA Application Portal, I guess they moved from SIS to the Application Portal because SIS has too many loopholes lol. I wouldnāt worry if you donāt have it, there is still a month before decisions release.
They probably filter out all the GAA applicants first to verify eligibility and see how many spots are still open before moving on to competitive applicants.
