So do we think today could be the day? Or would they wait until next Friday?
If they wait until Friday, theyâre losing more than half of their currently interested crowd, I would say, but it doesnât seem to be stopping them.
Itâs really disappointing because I think my daughter is really happy with her choice right now, but had they told her in late may early June, it wouldâve been a no brainer. Now, sheâd have to go through the McBurney disability application from scratch at a whole new school, and likely not get the accommodations she needs this late in the process.
I think short of at least half of the tuition given in merit aid, sheâs not budging.
Only about 5% get any kind of merit at UW Madison and a lot of those are quirky awards for particular majors, particular demographics, auditioned programs, things that are applied for seperately, etc. There are some programs that can be generous, but they are competitive.
I just throw it out there when it comes up because this seems to come up regularly. Maybe next yearâs applicants following along will take note.
This season is so different from the last 5 or 6 since Iâve been watching closely. So very hard to know whatâs going on! Iâd be surprised if they donât make some offers with that last round of emails but maybe theyâre cherry picking? I think itâs great students are settling into their chosen schools!
FYI, I just called UW-Madison admissions and their offices are closed today, July 5th (per voicemail). I donât think this necessarily means no offers today because they normally make offers after the close of business on Fridays. They reopen on Monday, July 8th.
I agree here. This has absolutely been their MO but we have unrealistic expectations out here
. Her current school which had a sticker price above 80k is now cheaper than Wisconsin without financial aid, so for us, unless Wisconsin beats that, itâs just too late.
Iâd be laughing all the way to the bank as the parent! Congratulations! ![]()
Anyone hearing anything? UW sending the form last week feels like a torture if theyâre not gonna do much with it!
if nothing happens , that email is really ridiculous
No news again, today. We have officially given up on Madison. I wish things were different. This year was a disaster for everyone on the waitlist.
Good luck to everyone here with their committed colleges. Work hard and be successful. God bless you all.
Yes, all the kids are destined for a certain school and in the long run, I hope each of you will look back and say - It was meant to be and I am glad it was that way!
I just cannot believe Madison decided to create some unnecessary anticipation through that polling of who was still interested! They might have made onesies twosies but for that, they didnât need to send the mass polling email.
Anyway, all of the kids will end up at the right schoolsâŠ.work hard and good things will happen!
Iâm not sure they see it that way, as they are likely to get relatively low yield from wait list offers made in July.
@pilate Did your son get his housing assignment yet??
Nope. They still havenât released round 2 of housing assignments.
I just called admissions and all they would tell me is that the waitlist will definitely be closed by July 31 and may be closed earlier than that. They said they were in the dark about additional offers.
Edit: The person I spoke with sounded surprised that a second round of requests for continued interest had gone out. I really think the folks answering the phones are just given a script and have zero inside info.
I truly think there will be some offers this Friday or the next. I find it super hard to believe they would send out another interest form without doing anything with it!
If offers come now, will they give financial aid information along with the offer? I cannot decline a nearly free ride at #2 choice without knowing what Wisconsin will cost us. The calculator the website linked to use I think was only for in-state. Plus, we spent yesterday having the best time getting things for the single dorm room she managed to get.
It sounds like college #2 is a heck of a great deal.
If my sonâs experience is any indication, it took Wisconsin a couple of business days after the offer to a) generate a financial aid offer and b) give him access to the housing portal. He was able to make a deposit and sign up for SOAR immediately.
The Wisconsin Net Price Calculator does provide estimates for OOS:

I know a kid who got off mid July last year so I do think we might see a few offers. If not, really LAME. ![]()
I still think there could be some hope this friday. I doubt they will release anything that is considered a âwaveâ but they might take in some people. Although they have been dead silent throughout the process and its very unlikely that they do anything, until the waitlist officially closes there is still a little hope.
They may have made offers to students who havenât reported it here or in Reddit.
How do you know?
