UW Madison Wait List, class of 2028

Looks nothing happened today

My son got off waitlist last year and got every class he wanted including some that were very popular and hard to get. They intentionally hold back seats and sessions all throughout the summer. So if registration is a concern it shouldn’t be. The only benefit earlier SOAR sessions have is a longer time to continue to modify and check back each week. I didn’t believe it either but Wisconsin is big in making sure no one gets a leg up over others.

On that note, housing that department is equally horrible to everyone. They’re my one complaint with UW. Rest assured all admitted get screwed equally no matter if early or late. If you peruse the housing boards you will see plenty of people that got in months ago who didn’t get one of the their top ten choices in dorms while others got higher. They allegedly punish people with roommates because they’re already in a spot they’re happy with while late admissions don’t have that so theoretically get a higher choice.

Again everyone has an equal opportunity

Good information, thanks!

Now that my son has completed registration, registered for class, has the exact schedule he wants, met kids who will be in his incoming class, I really have no idea what he’d do if he were to get an offer from WI. He’s done exactly what he’s supposed to do, ā€œfallen in love with his second choiceā€ and I am so proud of him and so excited for him. We are in WI now visiting family, and I’m feeling emotional about it all. I know he’ll thrive and fly and I’m feeling fairly settled about it all myself. Finally. Haha.

…and he refused to use a Badger coffee cup at the cabin this morning.

What school did he commit too?

U of MN! It’s feeling more and more that it was meant to be. His dad went to law school here, lots of family in town and he was born here.

That’s where S24 had committed as well. Great school.

U of MN is my alma mater and I’m local. I think it falls under the radar for a lot of people. Great choice!

Is there any chance something releases today?

:man_shrugging: I’ve given up trying to guess what Wisconsin admissions is thinking.

My guess is Wednesday. Today seems too soon since deadline for replying was June 28 (Friday) and that really only gave them the weekend. Wednesday is sorta like a Friday (their usual preferred announcement day) since no one will be in the office on Thursday, 4th of July. That’s my best guess anyway… I am sure it won’t happen that way. Or it’s going to be onesie twosie people getting in vs an actual wave.

i think its going to be mainly sporadic. if someone has cold feet and drops out last minute, they will take someone off the waitlist. i do wish they would do a decent size wave at least, but i sadly don’t see that coming anytime soon.
this has been a terrible year with the admissions process!!

I wonder if in 2022 they asked multiple times if people wanted to stay on the wait list-or if it was just the year they did the big wave. Seems like a lot of effort to ask every person still on the wait list if they are interested if you are only going to send them out sporadically… wishful thinking!

Wisconsin has had more than a month to assess where they have gaps based on students taking other offers.

If it was me, I’d wait and make all of those offers at one time, with sporadic offers to fill remaining gaps.

They still haven’t released the second round of housing assessments and that reinforces my thought that they are waiting for students coming in off the waitlist.

I’ve been looking through other forums (Reddit lol) and it seems like they’ve made a few sporadic offers. It’s unclear where they’re standing from bc I think they’ve had plenty of time to make a big wave if they needed it like when they sent the first continued interest form. The only justification I could see for waiting so long for a wave is that they were unable to use the first form in time and are now readying up with the 2nd forms’s responses.

Maybe for that housing round they’re just waiting for the sporadic admits to confirm and fill the size necessary for the housing to come out. I hope there’s another wave, but imo it’s becoming less and less likely.

California animal science waitlisted rcvd offer 5/9, 3:15pm.
Also rcvd OOS BANNER scholarship.
Lord bless and be with your precious children in their prospective colleges. They will do well with parents like you allā¤ļø

I’m sorry, but I don’t understand this. The only part I understand is out of state full ride. What school? And when? May 9?

Did anyone hear anything at all today? I know some of you predicted Wednesday as a possibility for some offerss.

Nothing at all. It sure is frustrating but everyone here still has a ray of hope. We hope to find out something positive at least on Friday.

They are certainly running out of time. This friday might be one of the last days a small wave could come out. Praying for the best.
