UW Madison Wait List, class of 2028

If you are from California, probably it is better for her to take Cal Poly than UW

I think he is but will now be a bit confused if he gets off the list! We have orientation Wed and Thurs for choice #2.
He has a roommate, etc

She is an aerospace engineering major at Cal Poly but she applied Astrophysics (L&S) at Wisconsin.

We are from California, and she is super happy to wind up at Cal Poly and we are obviously saving gobs of $$$! TBH, we had written off Cal Poly because they have not historically taken many from waitlist. We totally misjudged Wisconsin’s waitlist, expecting them to take many more kids in May/June. But, it feels like she’s where she should be now.

I love how this page is all parents. I’m a student and Wisconsin is still my dream school and the only reach I got waitlisted instead of denied from. My only other option is u of az. Are people accepting the waitlist response just to see if they’ll get in or because they would most likely go there instead of their second choice? I just want to know if its a yes or no already so I don’t keep getting my hopes up :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

I’m a student aswell and I would go if I got accepted even though I know the chances are slim. What’s annoying is the fact that I already have everything set up for my #2 choice including a roommate and even orientation so if I get in I’m gonna have to start from scratch at uw

Bets on hearing anything tomorrow?

It would be illogical for UW–Madison to ask for continued interest from everyone as recent as a week ago and do absolutely nothing with it. Especially when it’s deep into June now. So my bet is yes.

The continued interest asks to feedback by tomorrow , probably the offers will not be provided until next Monday

My son just back from a fishing trip and he said he declined the Waitlist. Just felt he’d be last in housing, class registration, etc… All things that he just completed in the last few weeks at Virginia Tech. I think if UW-Madison would’ve reached out prior to him completing those things, he’d still be willing to consider waiting to hear from them.

Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back!!!

Good luck to your son at Virginia Tech! It’s a great school and I know the area well (I grew up near Tech’s campus).

For those of you having similar concerns about being last in housing and class registration should you get an offer off the waitlist, Wisconsin really spaces out all of their orientation programs and housing assignments. It’s a little bit frustrating at times when you want everything tied up in a bow, but they say their approach is to be as fair to all students as possible.

My son who was accepted on May 17th, has orientation Aug 1-2. He does not yet have his housing assigned and has not registered for classes (happens at SOAR). We have been assured that his housing isn’t disadvantaged and they promise on-campus housing.
They also hold classroom spaces and FIG spots for late orientation students.

We are still anticipating a positive response from UW by Monday. My son really wants to go there. Finger’s :crossed_fingers:. I totally agree that it’s very late but I know for sure this young generation would easily cope up with anything and everything when on board.

Quick question: I never did the housing application for UW since I didn’t really have any hope of getting in. But now since im waitlisted, I have a slight chance. Does anyone how I can get housing this far into the year or is it even possible to get it?

S24 couldn’t access the housing application until about two days after being accepted off the waitlist. Wisconsin has been guaranteeing campus housing for accepted students so far.

I suspect if they are still considering pulling from the waitlist, given how housing is being done this year, they will work to accomodate.

The housing/dorm selection process causes much drama every year and most students do fine wherever they are housed. There are advantages and disadvantages to every dorm.

I looked over last years thread and it seems that all of the last people to come off of the waitlist were pre-business students. I’m curious if it will be the same this year? I’m wondering if we will see any waitlist movement tonight? :crossed_fingers:
