Honestly, your profile is so strong that I am surprised they put you on the waitlist……I guess CS has become THAT competitive. Anyway, congrats and enjoy your academic life from here on.

Chad has a great location is often considered the ā€œhonorsā€ dorm as it houses the Residential College program. https://www.housing.wisc.edu/undergraduate/communities/chadbourne/

Anything for engineering?

Do we think another wave is coming out this week?

My guess is they will make offers on Friday for any spots that weren’t accepted during this last round.

This is probably true. Deadline for current offers is 11:59 on Thursday the 18th.

Will he accept?

Oos Daughter was accepted off wait list last week for poli sci, and she just got a merit offer of $12k a year. She will be attending Syracuse, but Wisconsin was her first choice. It’s just too late now.

Congrats to your daughter and good luck to her at Syracuse!!! I’m very surprised that they are offering any merit, let alone $12K to anyone off the waitlist. Not that she is or is not deserving, just assumed waitlist offers were only at ā€œsticker priceā€ā€¦

My son chose not to accept the latest continued interest as he had already moved on, so who knows if he would’ve received an offer for CS, but it was just too late for him as he had already picked his classes, a roommate, dorm, etc…

Yeah seems they are desperate. She did get a lot of merit elsewhere but isn’t super high stats. 4.2/3.85 no test. 8 APs. State level ECs, leadership awards and internships though. .

Yes, congrats to your daughter and to her choice of Syracuse! Now we know that UW-Madison has a vacancy in Arts and Sciences and $12,000 per year in merit still available.

I would suspect they had an award open up for a specific demographic that your daughter hit (major, geographic area, etc). They give very little merit over all (5%) and I doubt they are pulling additional funds than they had allocated already. That’s a truly rare and amazing offer off the waitlist.

Congrats on Syracuse!

Her high stats bff was originally accepted with high merit (same high school), but different major. Friend is going to UsC instead. So maybe we got hers…

Oh that is super interesting. My kid got half tuition merit at UW Madison from a neighboring state and I don’t talk about that anymore. It’s so unusual it has led to some very awkward conversations. It was an obvious answer at first when people asked what led kid to UW Madison.

A lot of their merit awards are really quirky one offs that you were likely a fit for. And possibly the other student in your school too. My kid’s award was very niche.

Just wish they had offered her in May, we would be heading there!

Why is it too late?

Oos D with remarkably similar stats also looking for Poly Sci and still waiting. So frustrating. Well, mostly for me. She has mentally moved on.

We’ve already paid first semester tuition at Syracuse, have a roommate, classes scheduled etc.
