UW Madison Waitlist Class of 2024

SMad - My son got the same email about the dorm waitlist and to make another plan. Actually we are not sure yet to accept the off the waitlist offer since we do not see any aid except the loan, it is too expensive for OOS. We will decide soon.

@YS1111 Did you try the NPC? It’s reportedly extremely accurate as compared to actual aid.

They are planning for about 7350 new students (46000 apps) BUT nobody knows how many will really show. Still a fluid situation. You might get a call 8/31.

Is it 7/31? Have anyone got off the waitlist for CS International

A friends son got off the waitlist 2 years ago on July 31, no dorms then either. Very common that they run out of dorm rooms for the waitlist. Terrible that they accept when they dont have dorms. Their son found a “private” dorm and it did offer a meal plan, but I am not sure how much more expensive it was and it was several blocks off campus.

Not at all terrible to not have dorms for all- especially for those on the wait list. Living in Res Halls is popular and no way a deal breaker for attending UW given the numbers of students who live close to but technically off campus.

@wis75 It is terrible especially when they specifically say waitlist admits are offered on campus housing in the decision letter.

My son (OOS WA) got accepted off the waitlist into CS program in Letters & Sciences on 7/30. He accepted just before the deadline a couple of days ago. Currently waitlisted for regular dorms, and “private dorms”.

EnggParent private dorms are now full as well and you have to be waitlisted?
Did they say what other options are is all UW dorms are full and private dorms are full?

Thousands of apts within walking distance.

Sorry I wasn’t clear. I meant to say that he’s currently waitlisted for regular dorms, and checking out off campus apartments like The Hub, Dorm@Lucky, The James, the different stevebrownapts … etc. He’s also checking out Eagle Heights.

But its hard to be sure what are good options, as we’re OOS and haven’t visited the campus. So I’d be interested in hearing any recommendations.

We’re also aware of the issue that with the off campus apartments he’d be liable for the whole year even if the school shuts down. Whereas with the dorms (preferred option if available) you can get out of the contract.

What are others coming off the waitlist doing?

i thought Eagle Heights was part of Res Halls and for grad students only.

They do allow undergrad students with families.

Just got accepted today as a pre-business student in the College of Letters and Science. In-state student, 31 on ACT, 3.83 GPA.

Todays July 31 anyone get off the waitlist?

My daughter got off the dorm waitlist about 3 weeks after being put on it.

@Wiscwait2024 Nope, nothinng for me yet

They usually update at 7:30 CST.

No changes for me and It’s July 31st. I have no idea what UW has planned but its very frustrating.

Lol I’ll b honest. I think my expectations for getting off the waitlist r really low at this point. I mean I did apply to CS, so RIP
