UW Madison Waitlist Class of 2024

My son also admitted last night, MI applicant, 30 ACT, 3.9 GPA to Pre-Business, applied EA, deferred then waitlisted, Madison was his #1 choice but likely to go to Kelley School at Indiana now, just too late at this stage…so good luck to anyone else waiting! Also he didnt call or email after being waitlisted…

Also he didn’t contact them at all after being waitlisted …

@wadewoodson I honestly do not think this will be the last wave. In talking to admission reps, it sounds like the waitlist is a promising place to be this year with all the International and OOS students deferring or switching because of Covid-19.

Those got off the waitlist, did you receive any financial aid? My S got the email off the waitlist last night but it doesn’t seems any aid listed on the portal. Can he expect there will be some (even tiny) or nothing?

I just got an email that the waitlist is still active and I have been put on the summer waitlist till July 31st.

saw this on uw madison twitter: “You will receive and email to your wisc.edu email address wht your financial aide award. Once you receive this you can view more information on your student center” Accept Decline offer then Awards are coming daily dont panic

In state, son said he got an email from UWM saying he is still on the waitlist and will let him know July 31. this is unfortunate as we are moving forward with another school and he will know his roomate by July 15. Also I hear if you get off as of July 31 there may not be housing available. this happened to our friends son freshman year
Ridiculous that this is how they operate - but everyone puts up with it and still applies

Hopefully, we don’t have to wait until July 31st for the next wave.

For those who got off the waitlist, did they give you 14 days to decide like last time?

@5678lurker Yes, they did.

There is a domino effect with a waitlist. Someone declines their offer and that frees up a space for someone who does/does not accept it. This year with the pandemic many different variables than usual.

UWM is UW-Milwaukee

UW is UW-Madison

The Net Price Calculator is very accurate.

Thanks

Guys I went through Class of 2023 UW-Madison waitlist thread and there was people who got off on July 13th, July 24th, and July 30th. Unfortunately this means waitlist decisions could go all the way till the end of the month, but could also come sooner. Hopefully, by next week they’ll have another wave. If I don’t get in on the week of July 13th, I’d already be selecting classes at UCSC so I’d most likely end up going there. Best of luck to everyone still waiting!

as of June 30 (possibly earlier) there was no residence hall availability - they were accepting dorm wait list but said it was very unlikely you’d get a dorm. they were offering off campus university apartments, or help finding other off campus housing.

Are you sure? because on the decision letter it says students are offered on-campus housing.

yes, my daughter was accepted, then the next day got a letter from housing. the offered to put her on the dorm waitlist but told her it was unlikely she’d get a dorm, then said she should plan on alternate housing for the fall. she was shocked because, like you said, they had told everyone that they would have housing if they were accepted before end of july. we emailed housing and they just resaid the same thing, to plan on alternate housing because they don’t expect dorm rooms to open up.

i’d be very interested in hearing if anyone else got this notification about no more dorms available, and if anyone was ever taken off the dorm wait list.

YS111 - did your son get offered on-campus dorm housing?
