i got mine a few days ago. I completed everything about 3-4 days before I got the fin aid package.

Hopefully I get mine tomorrow. Does it include things like housing/ meal plans?

@rbk when did you send in your sgr?

@nharmony: last Thursday.

yeah it includes fees, room and board/meals, tuition, personal expenses, transcript fee, and travel expenses etc. The finaid that is.

Ugh I wish I got a SGR rather than a wait list. My grades this semester are pretty great so far so I probably would have gotten in with an SGR ![]()
I’m starting to lose hope.

Scratch that. I’ve lost hope.

hahaha 10minutes and no hope? There is always hope!
“Darkness is the simple result from the short absence of Light”

no need to loose hope, so many kids haven’t responded with their decisions yet and as soon as they miss their deadline Vandy will call you! Be optimistic!

@ sarzilla:
If I were you, I’d send in my latest grades anyway (with either a final transcript, or an unofficial mid-term grade report form); It can only help.

I agree with fmhcbc

@falalalafun and @rbkhoops21

SOCAL! I’M FROM SOCAL!!!

I visited Nashville last week and it was… kind of different. I’ve lived in SoCal for the past 12 years so it might be a bit of a culture shock at first I guess.

nice! i live in Redondo Beach.

My semester doesn’t end til May 27th so my professors won’t have grades up til at least a few days after. I’m going to put a transcript request in today anyway for them to send my grades as soon as final grades are in.

I visited last weekend, and it wasn’t too bad… it was nice not seeing road kill everywhere and whatnot.

The school was so beautiful and I absolutely fell in love; it looks like USC, but nicer, larger, and in a better area, with better academics and a smaller student body… HA!

Also, I saw Kissam, which really isn’t excluded at all, unless you’re too lazy to walk an extra minute or so(really, that’s how far it is from frat row). At this point, I don’t care where I live; with a bike you can easily get anywhere in a reasonable amount of time.

And how great was music row? I saw a great band play at Rippy’s, and I don’t even usually like country music, but I think it’ll grow… I just can’t wait to be 21 so I can watch the other groups play in other bars…

I am SO excited! :] The city is beautiful (though they were still pumping water out of half the buildings) and clean, with friendly people. My parents and I were on a carriage ride tour (lame, I know), and someone driving by yelled out the window, “Welcome to Nashville!”

Maybe I’m too excited, but I’m so used to smoggy Los Angeles, where people are kind of mean, and the only things people yell out of their cars are derogatory hoots like, “DAYUM” – I can’t wait to transfer to the new environment. Don’t get me wrong, I love L.A., but a change would be nice.

Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear! :]

Its great to hear you like Nashville! And if you really like hearing live music you’ve got to visit Legends Corner, the wildhorse (to which I’m going to tomorrow night ha), the blue bird, oh man theres so much I could go on forever it seems. oh oh oh and of course the dueling pianos and you’ve got to eat at mcdougals (best chicken ever).

and Sarzillaaaaaaaaa send in your mid-semester grade report?

I am a Texas senior who was not accepted to the school of my choice Yale. Since the only distinguished school I applied was Yale. I plan to attend Texas A&M (college station) in the fall. I want to transfer into an ivy league school or other distinguished school like Duke, Johns Hopkins, USC, and Vanderbilt. My major is Biology and I want to double in History. Can someone tell me my chances or provide me with advice.

HS RECORD: Valedictorian 3.9 GPA unweighted
SAT 1200 Math and Reading (Plan to take ACT in JUNE and actually study this time)
43 hours of college credit at local community college with 3.8 GPA

I want to strive for perfect grades in my freshman year of college is my schedule rigorous enough? Should I take more any suggestions?

FUND OF CHEM I 101
WORLD LITERATURE I
HISTORY OF ISLAM
ENGINEERING MATH 1

TOTAL 14 HOURS

Your hs stats are great just keep a 3.6 or above gpa during freshmen year. And if your major is bio then take some bio courses? Unless you already did in community college?

You put USC is the same category as Duke, Johns Hopkins, and Vanderbilt?

Get outta this thread! ;]
but… a little modesty probably wouldn’t hurt.

@falalalafun - I didn’t get to visit music row
I couldn’t see very many things because I visited at a pretty hectic time and my hosts were pretty busy. But it’s okay, I have at least three more years (hopefully four) to explore Nashville!
And I SERIOUSLY agree with what you said about Los Angeles. The people at Nashville were so ridiculously friendly; that, in itself, was like a culture shock to me. I live in a suburban area so it definitely looks nicer, but it’s like a taboo, talking to strangers on the streets of LA…

Any HOD majors around at CC? I’m seriously considering switching to HOD… Let’s talk!

Anyone transferring to vandy worried about the major influence of greek life there? i feel as a junior transfer it would be REALLY hard to become socially involved. what are your thoughts?

also what do you think about its grade deflation? do you think grad schools no about this and will account for it when applying?
