Can we like… not? Not spew false information? Not speculate based on our own biases and hatred?
I know it’s hard for some to believe that white males can be as screwed up as anyone else, but…

Las Vegas Is a GUN-FREE Zone by the way.
Not it’s not.
"Nevada is a traditional open carry state with complete state preemption of firearms laws. Effective June 2, 2016 SB 175[22] and SB 24023 is legislation that prohibits counties, cities, and towns from enacting ordinances more restrictive than state law. The legislature reserves for itself the right to legislate all areas of firearm law except unsafe discharge of firearms.
The regulation of the transfer, sale, purchase, possession, carrying, ownership, transportation, storage, registration and licensing of firearms, firearm accessories and ammunition in this State and the ability to define such terms is within the exclusive domain of the Legislature, and any other law, regulation, rule or ordinance to the contrary is null and void.
NRS 244.364, Taken from text of SB 240.[24]"
Exactly. As I posted early - In the state of Nevada, “Local gun laws are prohibited.”
Will be interesting to see if this incident has an impact on tourism and $ past the short term. That’s the one thing that does tend to get people to sit up and take notice
The gunman told neighbors he was a ‘professional gambler’. He had been out of the country for six months recently. His girlfriend is out of the country.
@romanigypsyeyes I said very possible please, and you mentioned race?
“Will be interesting to see if this incident has an impact on tourism and $ past the short term.”
It won’t. Why should it? It could, and does, happen elsewhere - and anywhere. Churches in South Carolina, elementary schools in CT, high schools in CO, colleges in Virginia and Oregon, concerts in Vegas…just to name a handful of many. This has nothing to do with the locale, IMO. It could be your location next.
@newHSmom The difference is the shooter’s race that Romani mentions is a known fact - he’s was a white dude. Your post was pure speculation and it looks like it was wrong as another poster is posting she is actually Filipino.
The shooter’s father, Benjamin Paddock, passed along some of his bad genes to him. The dad was imprisoned for car theft and bank robbery. He escaped from prison and was on the lamb for eight years. The FBI finally caught up with him outside a bingo hall. The FBI’s Most Wanted Poster lists Benjamin as 6’ 4", 245 pounds, a confidence man, psychopathic, suicidal, and armed and dangerous.

Of course you were speculating. What else would you call the post below? At least own your comments.
I mentioned race only because you had. You’ll notice I mentioned nothing of the sort in any of my other posts.
Like where on earth did you even get this from:
?
ETA: Also, she wasn’t with the shooter.
@newHSmom ok then you are just making stuff up?
I am calm.
My post went through twice because I didn’t realize there was a word not allowed on fb in it. The word isn’t a cuss word, but used to describe the type of people who intentionally make up inflammatory information and post it online. I realized why it was flagged for review and posted it with that word changed, not realizing that my first post would also go through.
Haven’t read through the whole thread so I don’t know if someone else has already mentioned this, but currently a bill is working its way through Congress that would make it easier to buy gun silencers. Why do we need automatic assault rifles and gun silencers? Ask the NRA, and they’ll convince you that you’d need them.
Absolutely a must have thing. Guns are loud. Really loud. Silence them, then the gun firing ranges can operate longer without p’off the neighbors.
/sarcasm off.
This is one of the most depressing and sad Mondays.
My co-instructor and I are discussing how we’re going to address this with our students today.
Neither of us are looking forward to this.
Depends on how young they are, whether they have heard the news or whether their parents have shielded them from it.
@mom2twogirls @romanigypsyeyes @Nrdsb4 @doschicos okay, I was wrong, you are all right.
Another “white guy kills a bunch of people and nothing is done about it” Monday. Sigh.
When nothing is done after 20 first graders are slaughtered at their school, and five years later, when there have been over 300 mass shootings this year alone, why would anyone assume that the U.S. wasn’t okay with this?
We are OK with this. We’ve proven that we can mobilize against things we aren’t OK with. We haven’t so we are.
